Why on Earth get rid of one of our precious few game modes?

It's called binary thinking. Everything is black and white. No grey areas allowed. As such, the option of actually demanding PGI to fix the problem is beyond many people's comprehension.

Nope, nothing to see here.

VIP working as intended.

"No such bugs exists."

*edit: Also take a look at the patch notes from February, which is when PGI finally got around to fixing that VIP trap on Alpine. Not only does the issue exist, PGI is well aware of it and is still working on fixing it. When a game mode in a multiplayer PvP game can become stuck in an unwinnable state, it needs to be removed until the issue is fully resolved.

Yeah i think upgrading the AI from mindless zombie to a hamster would be an improvement.

Hey, easy on the hamsters!

Always vote for the alternative whenever escort comes up (same with incursion). Interesting idea, but the current implementation just isn't much fun.

The base concept of "protect the big thingy" is a decent idea, it's just not good for QP in general. I'm working on a concept for an FP replacement mode, the link to which I will post as soon as the thread is ready.

might be interesting, but considering the bad taste the current mode has might be hard to get launched.

However, I think that, once it launched, it would be way better received than the current escort. Not to mention that it acutally would feel like you are part of a mission. The defenders are escorting a Rattler on a patrol cycle, and the attackers are trying to disable/destroy said Rattler to allow their dropships to get in orbit without being blasted to pieces by Barracuda Missiles and Long Toms.

I voted indifferent because currently Escort sucks as implemented, but the idea behind it has some slight merit as an alternative to team deathmatch.

Isn't escort where PGI tests the AI for MW5:Mercs?

No. They do all the ai testing in mech academy. That ai atlas is their super advance t-700 prototype series. Complete with suicide-death-run auto pathing, stuck-on-a-rock-dance-dance wiggle, clip-and-bounce-building ultra combo, and the glare-of-death head camo. Rumors are that when given working weapons it solo-ed the entire enemy team under four minutes in what was called Rambo Rush 'N' Crush attack mode. Even when all 12 enemy mechs focused fired into the cockpit they couldn't drop that atlas.

Then pgi tried just flamers on it which promptly overheated and melted down the pts setting the building on fire, causing massive smoke damage. and one intern locked in the broom closet so we got the weaponless version of that ai atlas.

yeah but people cry about the drop-ships guns as it is, this thing has WAY more firepower. if you get in 1k range youll be vaporized, let alone missing a ST..

Judging by the gameplay trailers for MW5, the only difference is that the Escort Atlas doesn't have weapons.

The concept of escort can be salvaged. But it needs its own maps, and the VIP should be a train going between fortified bases so it makes sense for it to be slow, on rails and predictable, but mainly so it wont get stuck on map geo.

escort is what passes for depth in this game. last thing i want is the game to have less depth.

wouldnt mind a redux though. replace single atlas with a convoy of smaller vehicles like the escort missions from other mw titles. have multiple convoys for an fp version. a way to spread the action out across the map.

Can we just go back to the main three? Skirmish, Assault, and Conquest, also bring back random map and game mode please?

I would also like to see original Terra Therma again.

Hence the limitations I put on it in my concept thread. Not to mention the alternate(but less rewarding) win condition.

Well, looks like we don’t have 100% consensus from the community. So it looks like it is staying. Wasn’t that their most recent requirement for any change? Not majority?
