I know I have bought enough Clan and IS moe-chines to fill a couple Dropships this and last year. I bought 2 Clan Heavy & Assault Mechs+Omnimechs today. What I was not expecting was 2 free Hero Mech/ Omnimech. One IS Roughneck and a Clan Sun Spider.

What did I do to Warrent these gifts from PGI???

Yeah, yeah I know gift horses mouths yada, yada, yada. These Moe-chines any good?

you played a match on the 27th of december

Edit: The best Sun Spider I´ve seen used dual UAC10`s and one ERPPC and since the Roughneck is tanky he works well with an UAC20 and MRM40 (LFE)

I love the Sun Spider.. I use 4xLRM15+HLL, and it works well..

Solid LRM boat, will get even better whrn C-variant omnipods are out for cbills..

It will probably get a place in my Dropdeck, especially when the Nova Cat comes out for cbills..

Its a good LRM mech....and since LRMs are not even bad but rather just a sad story...what does this make out of this mech Posted Image

Poor thing.....poor, poor thing....like the manul that just gets ill and dies when it is taken out of the mountains (immune system of that creature can not function below a certain hight/ above a certain airpressure) the SNS-Omni has a very limited operational profile and is exceptionally squishy to focused damage versus its sides.

I'm ok with most people thinking badly of LRMs.. at least it covers up how OP they really are, and PGI won't nerf them..

Please PGI.. don't nerf them..

The very fact we've got an arms race going on in stock LRM tube counts on new mech releases is proof enough.

For anyone who's watching.. we've just cracked an LRM100 stock loadout with the Sun Spider..Posted Image

I beg to differ as I've been farming lrm's all night in my kitfox and it seems to boil down to who has the fewer sns-vg's in their team who wins as too dam squishy as it's a **** pre buff thanatos. Saying that it looks like the uac10 ppc/lpl combo will be the default loadout.

Then you were lucky we did not yet meet on the field of battle.. cose' my LRM60 would make short work of your kitfox.. Posted Image

Seriously though, most Irondomes i meet usually only survive as long as it takes me to figure out not all of my missiles are getting through. It takes a few shots sometimes for me to figure it out and switch to alphas, and at that point, not even a 3AMS Kitfox stands a chance.. Especially if ALRM is in full compliment (read two dedicated LRM heavies or assaults).

And then there's the HLL backup.. it also makes kitfoxes say good night..

Note: this is really not me bragging or issuing a challenge, it's just empirical matter of fact.. I only have issues with AMS when more than half the enemy team has it, and that's rare.. I've had instances where two Irondome Kitfoxes were on the field, and my significant other and me would just focus each one of them down.. Irondomes give out at about LRM50.. pack more than that, and you will overwhelm and kill it with enough effort..

As far as squishiness goes, give it time.. people have not yet mastered the mechs..full survival tree will probably change that somewhat..

P.S. Farimng LRMs with AMS is a great way of doing this event, since half the "missiles downed" number goes directly into matchscore.. So keep farming, you're doing great on the event :D

So AMS Kit Foxes are helpless against... two heavy LRM mechs.

Come on, dude, you know that's not true. Any half way decent Kit Fox has ECM paired with its AMS and the ability to hard counter LRMs if that ECM is compromised. You pounded down a potato or two with help and now you want to brag about it?

Truth is, most Kit Foxes would love to have you and your partner fire at them all match. Every missile you useless flail into a wall, or lose because the lock got broken mid-flight, or gets shot down, is just feeding that Fox and wasting time.

Pretty much this as kitfoxes one of the few true "support" mechs in the game. They don't have to kill you they just have to be there holding the umbrella for the big boys to create you a new ***hole. They are never alone and provide anti light and lrm protection to the heavy hitters so bring that potato to a fight lets see who's guns are bigger :3

Could I turn the Vanguard into a fast brawler like Timberwolf-S and Redline Linebacker?

It'll readily take quad SRM6 if you want that, though the torso mounts are restricted to 1 energy/up to 4 mid-to-small ballistics.

You'll have to wait for the reinforcement pods (C) to get 6xASRM6 though. Which it can do with 8.5 tons of ammo for the six launchers.

Not especially. Pretend you are piloting a TBR with the LRM 20 ears and consider how long your side torsos last in a given brawl. That's what the Sun Spider is looking at 24/7 regardless of its loadout. If you want to brawl, stick with the Orion IIC (A) or possibly a splat dog. The Sun Spider is a medium to long range fighting mech, and was given superb mounts to peek with. You'll probably have the best success going with that.

They did it in part to fix an issue with desertion penalties rolling over into post-patch.

If you broke a FPO contract early, you were given a variety of penalties. These are gone now.

Good to know. I plan on coming back to FP as soon as I can get 3-4 Clan Mechs/Omnimechs skilled out. I will do that by grinding out GXP and C-Bills in QP.
