Lieutenant-colonel Arnaud Beltrame
died 03/24/2018 at the age of 45
this french military police officer died this week-end in southern France after offering to swap with a female hostage held by Daesh fanatic terrorist
he knew the risk as already three people had been killed and two more seriously injured the same day
he was shot several times before the special forces could kill the terrorist but the female hostage and many more were saved
he was a true hero and a credit to french military in general and to the gendarmerie in particular
they say true heroes never die..?!.they do!!! but it's always worth it

To the OP the man you mentioned fits the meaning of Hero. In today's day and age we call actors/actresses/athletes Heroes. This man is more deserving than the aforementioned people.
My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, loved ones and friends.

He may have passed from this world, but his legacy will continue forever, as a Hero.
Hero's are not born, they are made.
