Hey PGI team,
Why haven't we heard about a Match Maker update in the recent patches? You've worked up new mechs, new mechanics, quirk updates, and all sorts of other fantastic changes. But I haven't noticed a single mention of the match maker. Maybe I'm asleep at the wheel, I'm going to ask my fellow mechwarriors to set me straight if that's the case. But assuming I'm on the level, PGI has ignored the single greatest influence on current game experience for at least the last several patches. What gives? The 12/3 thing needs to get fixed (that's a kill/loss ratio for those in the cheap seats). You need to fix that sooner than later. I know for me, the MM "experience" has driven me from a most nights player to a once a week player. I'd like you fix this due to as a direct result I'm also not willing to give PGI money (under ANY circumstances) given the current state of the game.
Quick play is, for most intents and purposes the entirety of the game right now for most of us. You need to figure this out. I'm not here to say this or that is the right fix. I'm telling you that you need to move whatever metrics need to be moved to support match's centered on 12/8 or closer to parity rather than were we are at. I get that tactics will play a role. My interpretation is that tactics are a tail effect (in the distribution of outcomes) - 80% of my QP matches have no tactics guidance for reference.
I would ask follow on posters to refrain from dragging us down a swamp of recommendations, I'll (massive fingers crossed) trust PGI to figure it out, only to ask that we sign on to a petition to improve the MM as the next game improvement.
Thanks for listening, sorry for the wall of text, good luck with the event (unless your a dirty clanner) and happy hunting,
Caldek

Supposedly, Solaris has a ELO system that, after some testing, may be introduced to QP.
We'll see how that goes.
We'll see how that goes.

The flawed MM finally fixed, updated and carefully balanced ? Godzilla might appear near your city first ! Years have passed and one of the core elements of this game still goes unmodified. They tried and failed with the PSR and tier separation.
Well, maybe they have something prepared for that in the future...
Signing a petition or making a good poll that PGI can check out, that's something. But seriously, maybe they don't really care about the player experience and that's why they got a population drop off.
As for now and for some, going from daily to weekly playing could be taken as a wise choice.

I can allready see how this is gonna go in most minds at PGI:
Yeah, I guess we should get that done some time, but we're really focusing on Solaris now, so we'll get to that after we get to a million other things, and yeah, uuh, we're gonna keep it on the back burner for now, but we'll, uuuuh, definitely do it.. some time.. after Solaris for sure..
Wanna buy a Solaris 7 mech pack?

Of course the MM is having problems, there are only so many ways to divide 2000 players from 5 different tiers and on 3 servers.

Why? ELO could replace tier system completely.
Elo was created for 1v1 and it needs a zero-sum. Insert 23 random elements to this and the whole point goes out the window. We had Elo at first and it didnt work. It added everyones Elo and created "equal" teams meaning you had t5 and t1 consistently together. Not only are there 23 other people who affect everything but the mech you use and the laodout you use affect it too. QP isnt chess. It will be perfect for 1v1 Solaris. What we need is a system that keep the newbies and the roleplayers out of the people who want to min/max their mech and we have that. Can tiering be improved? Ofcourse. But we already had many element to the MM that made the game better and they were all ditched in favor of drop time.

I really hope that they add a simple thing to the MM - prevent a player on your block list to be matched with you on your team. That would solve sooo much issues..
