which i saw in a couple matches so far.. AS7-K, twin AMS with SIXTEEN THOUSAND rounds of ammo, 2 MPL, 1 RAC/5 with about 5 tons of ammo, and an MRM10 with a couple tons. This is currently troling the T1/T2 queues. Its not even up engined from what I could tell. Stock 300 standard.

Hey people been telling newbies to take AMS. Now one has actually heed the advise but maybe went a little to far with it, and you saying he's trolling. The man just tries to survive.

Hey, this is the real OP Atlas build, for the AS7-D-DC specifically.

Just got out of a match with a Mauler on our side with 4 Light Gauss Rifles. Why?

That's 48 tons of weapons for a 32 point alpha, and you can't even alpha since you can't charge more than 2 Gauss rifles of any kind at a time!? Unless they changed something about that specifically for Light Gauss, but even then, this is a horrible build. 2 Heavy Gauss would connect for up to 50 points and burn less tonnage, and even 2 normal Gauss would give you about the same alpha as 4 Light Gauss (even if you can fire them all at once) for far less tonnage. Ugh!

I've seen Quad Light Gauss King Crabs.

They're basically support assaults for long range combat. nothing more nothing less.

But all the while being pretty bad at that.

Yeah, it was awful. He ended up with a decent enough score at the end, but that was mostly because he just stuck in the murderball and shot targets of opportunity. Fair enough, but the build is still ghastly and he'd have done a lot better with a real Gauss build.

The dumbest build I've run into was a stealth armor Assassin armed with one small laser just to make it legal to drop. It was clearly designed solely for smoke diving in scouting.

The worst thing about it, though, was that it worked...sort of. They won, but nobody on their team got much of anything for it because he left them 3 v 4 and couldn't have contributed anything but a meat shield even if he stayed with them. We walked away with significant damage done and match scores on the loss.

YES but... this is a T1/T2 player... because my match was pretty much an insta-drop..its not like I sat in the queue awhile and then the MM threw me in with some T3s.

Quad Light Gauss is more closer to the role of an AC2 build than a gauss build. Doesn't really do anything better than the AC2 build except for marginally more damage per volley (6 AC2s vs 2 Lgauss) and having way less heat.

I'll still take that guy over the infamous LRM boat DDC pilot who didn't even run a back up laser or ECM.

Personally, I think the build sounds like something someone drunk or really angry would make.

Maybe they've just had it with LRMs. XD

For a while, King Crabs with 4 LRM15's and nothing else were the most depressing builds I'd regularly see in QP. Take a ballistic mech, cover in marginal weapons, make it helpless under 180m, and there you go - fail!

I agree that someone just did not like being hit with LRMs with that build. The player probably thought that the mech would be the only one carrying ATM on the team.
I run a twin ATM mech with 3 ton of ammo and I run out of ammo on a LRM heavy games taking down over 600 to 1000 incoming before running dry. But I'm just at the start of Teir 4. I know that in Teir 1 it's not so common.

Regarding the two AC 5 Atlas, I wonder what the size of the tageting computer was if all that tonage was not AC 5 ammo.

It's a sustained fire build. Yes, it is awful but that's typical for that build category.

But they cool down so fast that you basically just charge-release-charge-release all the time. That's the (only) attraction of that build.
I built a KGC with that loadout - it no longer runs it.

The real treat my friend saw the other day was a LBX2 ANH, ONE LBX2, nothing else. No AMS, No other weapons. It was on the enemy team so he didn't know how much ammo it had. He has a screen shot

I also saw a 12 flamer DWF the other day with one C-AC10 I have a screen shot.

I've run King Crab with 4 light gauss, it was rather amusing, but the DPS was pretty low. I've been theorycrafting about making the same with ECM Nightstar, IIRC. Or with 4xRAC2. I currectly got 6xRAC2 annihilator on the test, doesnt seem anywhere good enough, plus it's not amusing.

I routinely carry 10 - 14k ams ammo on my kitfox builds, now tempted to see which assault carries 2 ams and go "Large" on the ams front.

Nope, got you all beat.

I saw a single MG + ECM Atlas-D-DC at one point. Given that it died from an ammo explosion after getting shot in the arm, I think the entire thing must have been packed with ammo. You could easily get 29 tons of MG ammo into one with a max engine (it wasn't slow).
