Also are Nova Cats considered bad too? I actually don't remember seeing any of them at all, it's like they're not even in the game, and I think I even saw a Nightstar once but no Nova cats.

All weapons in the arms, so yes, glass cannons even by MWO Clan standards. Saw them a couple of times in three months, was not impressed. I see even more Night Gyrs than them, and that alone is saying something.

They are bad, but with the reinforcement pods this has to be reassessed. Might be they gonna make slightly better gauss platform than NTG purely because they are not NTG.

My mechbays are ready.

I was thinking of quad light gauss ECM -10P, I did previously check it to be valid but now I realize it doesn't have enough slots for it, I don't know how I previously mistaken it.
And the other intresting build I had in mind for that, quad RAC2, is far less intresting looking, no potential for greatness or particularly fun. I probably shouldn't buy it since the hardpoints make it rather boring with only few viable builds, yet I want to try it out since it has much more tonnage as well as option for high speed(relative to assults) compared to stealth Stalker.

What's a good Nightstar for gauss laservomit, Im thinking -9S as it can take 3 large lasers plus one medium? Or -9FC with 5 mediums. But I think I would prefer -9S.

For the Nova Cat. Essentially it is a weaker softer version of the night gyr but with more pod space, and optional jumpjets at the cost of hardpoints. Definetely not a brawler as it's squishy and slow, but slightly better at twisting than the Gyr.
So far I only found them to work using the extra pod space for DHS in laser builds.
PPCs can be 'viable' at best, whereas many mechs with PPCs would perform better.
ATMs can be succesful when mixed with some lasers if you are good with these.

Build one of these MCII-2 and I think you should be fine with your Piranhafobia.

Buff for nightstar next patch? Be the only way, id buy one.

The NSR-9J with two LB 10-X AC, six MPL, and LE310 works very well.
The 9FC and 9S are okayish with the loadouts I tried.
Let's see what the 9P and 10P bring.

So far I tried 9S with 2xGauss 3xErLL, LFE300. I have almost identical build on KGC-0000, and Nightstar does it better imho.

I was also thinking about 9P, TheB33F build as seen here:

I bought the NSR yesterday, the one with the hight engine cap, and made it into an overly heavy WHM with a bit better cooling.
Not great, but yet without skills and I don't mind playing it.

I was underwhelmed with my Nightstar at first, but I was trying to do something weird... Now I'm rocking ECM, 4 AC5s, a big engine, and a bunch of ammo, and pulling 800+ damage a match.... Sometimes you just gotta do the simple things...

NSR-9J all laser boat mech is my worst experience in MWO. Usually I nearly get all my mechs up and running but NSR... wow.
*shakes her head*

Now I understand why I didn't see much of them before. This mech definitely needs much dev love.

If the 10P didn't have the hand actuators I might've gotten one.

The Nova Cat looked very promising but it's engine is way undersized : It's a heavy that moves like an assault, and in fact moves worse then many assaults, but without the benefits of an assault, or quirks to make up for it. Good luck finding a niche role for it when even assaults are leaving you behind.

Feels like they take double damage and deal half damage.
I'd like to see them buffed.

I just found the thread on mechspecs with your build, which is indeed two days older than mine, but you don't have an LE310, but a TC1+LE300 instead. Too slow for me Posted Image

Edit: Oops, sorry, maybe not your build. I just mixed up Cadoazreal and CarloArmato, so unless you go by both names, the post wasn't from you: https://mechspecs.co...086/#post-91192

Everybody is complaining about the Nova Cat's top speed of 65kph, but that's the same speed my Marauder BH2 runs, and it has no problem getting around? Am I missing something?
