It is really, really annoying. It's a bit more of a unique lag spike behavior than the usual, and has been occurring the last few weeks.

I severely doubt it. Not to mention the website problems a couple days ago.

Exactly this, and I'm NA with high speed connection. Have also noticed the in game ping fluctuating quite a lot for many players, go from say 65 to 180. Or 120 to 350 etc.

Thing that I don't understand is the frametimes in this game. Which is supposed to be what you check for microstutter though in this game it seems to be macrostutter at times. River City has got to the point where it is practically unplayable for me the majority of the time. Low frame rate that feels much lower than what it says. Even when the game says it is running 60fps the frametimes are usually around 20-30ms when they should be about 16 or 17 since 1000/60=16.667. And the frametime often spikes much higher, a lot of 100ms, some 500s, and occasionally ~1500ms.
Heres an example

I know its a bit hard to read but basically its low gpu and cpu usage, with low fps and a bunch of over 50ms spikes in frametimes. I only had the frametime set to 50 for some reason but a lot of those spikes are much higher than that, like the on screen one shows 500+. And no, there was no single core being pegged out, none were over 50%. The entire match felt more like 5-15fps plus pausing.

There is a difference between "LAG" and temp system freezes, and many of the posters have missed it completely That you have it pegged as lag means you are not actually looking at what is occurring with the game and your system itself.

No.
First of all this is a thread with like 6 participants. I wouldn't call that many.
I love how you come on here and try to nonchalantly imply that we don't know the difference of game performance from a connection side, and our own "system" as you say.
If you read what was written, "many" of us have stated that these lag/game burps have been happening more recently.
It is a connectivity issue. Plain and simple.

My ping normally rests on around the 100 mark for N.America, around 30 for EU and 300 for Oceanic servers, but I'm getting every minute or two a judder of ping jumping to 700+ that lasts for about 8 seconds, then BAM fine again.
It makes aiming properly hard as hell, as I have a window of opportunity to do it, and I have to anticipate the timing of the lag spike with my positioning and try and be in cover for when it happens or risk losing pieces of my mech. This makes me boat LRM's more and more. Nobody wants that.

Yes, because some sort of hardware/temp issue is causing all mechs around you to have a walking animation but stay in place for a few seconds until it goes back to normal
You can even still pilot you're mech on the map and shoot at things/mechs, except the reticule doesn't register the hit, maaaybe because the game is waiting on server info to update things like player positions
That's exactly what Jackal is describing

Great job!!! Especially since I was replying to the OP and quoted the part he provided and not Jackel's. Did ya happen to ignore the quoted piece in my post?
Yeap, lag/net issues, no disagreement there...opponents moonwalking, etc because data is not being received but the OP said the game actually freezes, ie becomes non-responsive..... It would not matter if the user is on dial up or or connected directly to the servers itself. Thus my response to the OP quoted post on confusing lag with actual system freeze/issue.

Not sure what is not clear there... And yes, the other posters (except for dario) were chiming in on the network/connectivity while not even attempting to discuss the "freezes" in a drop.

Turns out, for me, the problem was mostly Gigabyte's "Launch App Center" application.
Now my problems are the standard occasional net burps and PGI's still very imperfect hit detection...
