So when you make a new account, your first several games have the most influence on your tier bar.
You do good and you may end up in tier 4 right away. You potate and your tier bar will stay in the beginning of tier 5.

What if the same goes for Solaris ELO? Thoughts?

I definitely want to try it. The most difficult part in it, as I found out when I made an alt back on December 27, is to abandon all intents to win and potate real hard.

Assuming everyone starts at 1000 points and each loss is -10 points and each win is +10 points and you purposefully tank your start you will end up gravitating to your actual Elo unless you a specifically trying not to, which wouldn't make any sense.

The tier system is NOT elo.

I really doubt there will be a mechanic that inflates people's numbers at the start.

Elo adds or deducts from your Elo score depending entirely on what the Elo score was of your opponent. The higher above your own his Elo is, less Elo you lose on a loss and the more you gain on a win. There is no reason to have your first few matches increase this effect otherwise one or two unlucky matches could screw you over.

A lot of games do placement matches however (usually 5 to 10?) where you play a series of matches against varying Elo players and the system figures out roughly where you should end up. I can see them maybe eventually implementing something like that in the future but not likely at the start. Will need to see how their Elo algorithms shake out first.

Not even worth opening new accounts just for cheating the MM system. El Bandito will play under El Bandito.

Also from what I understand Elo (SSR) is reset every 3 months as well.

You can't really 'game' Elo, as it's not an XP bar. The changes that are applied are determined by your opponent, not by PGIs wonky PSR calculations.

Really need a soft PSR reset for QP every three months too. I miss the challenging matches of late 2015.

I wan't here in 2016 but the most fun matches I've played were T4-5... Sorry, just the most fun groups of players because no one was super serious and most were "experimenting" with "everything" to see what you liked or hated. No pressure and the matches were just massive goat-rodeos that were a hoot to play ! IT WAS FUN.... a good metric. It's a shame no one has figured out how to calculate "fun..." (It was suggested to our human factors team as a doctoral subject !)

If you play long enough, you'll get matched with players of your own skill. Just bring the LRM boats <3

Doesn't work, unless your LRM boat is a Locust.
