Why does the quickplay leaderboard default to wins ? It makes me laugh when players with a avg match score of ~170 and a K/D of ~.3 are at the top of any leaderboard.

I think they did that by default because it's the most fun for everyone. You can get a lot of wins by either having a high W/L ratio or by playing a lot. I actually think it's the right choice.

All the other options are worse --

- Match score doesn't work, because a 400 average score over 3 matches is very different from a 400 match score over 300 matches, but they would be ranked the same. Also 400 match score in a light is much harder than 400 match score in an assault.
- KDR and WLR have the same problem
- Total Kills might work OK, but favors kill-seeking gameplay (instead of win-seeking gameplay).

It's still just a grind stat no matter how you look at it and grind stats are by nature dumb. You can't do very well in it without playing an insane amount of games even if your WLR is high.

Last season the least number of games played by someone in the top 20 wins was 780 matches while most of the rest did 1000+. If you compare the top 20 by wins and the top 20 by matches played this season almost everyone in the top 20 by wins is also in the top 20 by matches played. Most of the rest are still up there, but on page 2.

I agree with you in principle about sample size, but you have to play at least 10 games in a season and sub category before you are listed on the leaderboard. So it's not quite so bad. If it were up to me I would put a 30 match requirement before you're ranked on the first 2 pages. Or add a filter button so you can filter out the people you think didn't play enough matches for a good average.

I don't worry too much about the different classes because they all have their own leaderboards.

The most glaring mistake in the leaderboard is PGI mixes Solo and Group queue into a single leaderboard. Once that is fixed we can talk about other minor improvements, in comparison, such as changing minimum amount of matches to qualify, default statistic and so on, but so far organized gaming is mixed with Solo mayhem the leaderboard must be taken just as an indicator of general skill.

Hmm so QP L boards are for the wins and the FP for the KMDD's.
It's just a grind meter as the guy above said.

IMO default sorting should be either average MS or W/L with a minimum of 100 games, and it should only include tier 1 (or separate leaderboards per tier) as it's much easier to get high stats in the lower tiers so those shouldn't award a place on the board.

# of wins is just 100% meaningless, hard to think of a worse "stat" for sorting the boards. Might as well be all the player in a random order, just nonsense.

To encourage grind.
