They do not change the divisions and other things within that time.

Am I wrong in thinking this?

Thoughts comments concerns?

We all know this thread was coming. We all knew the moment the division list was released and absolutely NO PLAY TESTING DONE there were going to be massive issue.

Constant adjustment will keep the mode interesting. If the "META" gets stagnant the mode will become very boring.

It will not die, but it will languish in the same place where FW is, with the same people in the same 'Mechs batteling for virtual currency.

(This is not ment to disrespect the FW crowd)

if pgi keeps with the seasonal redefinition of divisions it can work and even mix things up a bit. but if they get locked into the habbit of same old same old, then lol, nope.

If they don't fix the lobby loading, the divisions really won't matter because the place will be a ghost-town anyhow.

I have no problems with the seasonal redefinitions. I think 3 months is a bit long between seasons. However currently they need to be addressed within the next 2 weeks. Currently you have mechs dominating divisions and there is nothing that can be done about it. Especially some of the what I call " non participation" tactics going on (backing into a corner and staying put) how you address that I do not know.

But they can not let this go on for 3 months.... Solaris will be worse of a ghost town than FP is.

Meta will shift as PGI adjust division ranking for each chassis and variant. It will not stagnate, at least not on lower divisions.

I'm having fun with my unskilled AS7-KR in Div2, even if I'm not particularly good or winning terribly often. This could be a fun distraction every now and then.

Hopefully this happens at least once a month, ideally more like every two weeks.

I've yet to see LRMs in Solaris. I feel kind of bummed about it, actually.

Been around MW and MWO a long time. I am enjoying Solaris. Hey I am not super good at it, less than 1.5 KTD. There is a lot to try. Some of my old mechs that were bad in every other mode are quite good in this one. Yeah, if the other guy want to brawl he will just eliminate the only two big maps, but if you like close combat this mode is not bad.

The mechs might move around...

The builds, relatively speaking, will not.

The KDK3 is a great example. In Div 2 it is a very strong all-rounder and if you can play even half decent, will give you easily 60% win-rate IMO. Move it up to Div 1 and it's suddenly overshadowed by ANH's and the huge armour quirks and is a useless mech to bring.

So balance will never be achieved in the Solaris arena. Mechs will just be moved up/down classes but the builds ain't gonna change unless there is some major balance changes. What is strong in one class is, in many cases, going to be rubbish in another - the way the divisions are done now (poorly, 45T gaps are absurd).

The interesting bit out of all of this is - what will happen with balance. Do PGI balance around QP/FP and attempted Comp or do they balance around Solaris. Solaris is totally different and balancing around that will upset the rest of the game.

PGI will most likely balance around 12v12 combat. As they have shown with Flamers and Streaks, PGI can modify or outright ban weapons in Solaris mode separately from other modes, for balancing around builds.

Those are only small time things though.

You head down a weapon path for Solaris only, in detail, you're going to create a balance and administrative nightmare anytime you change overall balance things will be forgotten about.

It won't be "dead". I do suspect it'll have far fewer players than QP. It'll be a new comp queue and 85% of players will learn to avoid it.

I find it a really good place to work on some fundamentals and habits. I'll probably always play it a bit, especially if I have to get away from the game for a bit and come back it's a good place to refresh your habits.

It's not going to be a primary thing though. Too repetitive.

I thought it was fun but my favorite build (HGN-Keeper) was placed in Div 1 which sucks. Not much fun taking my 90 tonner against an ANH. No problem with FNR's and Direwolf's but most of my deaths were to ANH's.

I predict that those who like 1v1 will continue to like it and the QP crowd will descend into a bunch of LRM players.
LOL

For all the hub bub they have around this launch. To me it does not seem to be going well on multiple fronts. The queue numbers just kill me.

I could change that. I have an LRM Adder I've been skilling up. Adder's what, Div 4? Div 5? Helps that I'm not a moron with it, so...
