TL;DR
Loadouts for mechs so you don't have to reconfigure your mech each time you switch gamemodes.
The Cause
Since engagements in Solaris are quick 1on1 or 2on2 brawls, the nature of the equipment a Battlemech needs to bring shifted drastically compared to quickplay. Where you'd usually have to plan for enough ammo to take on a team of 12 other Players, you are now only facing a max of 2 opponents.
This means that compared to Quickplay, you can run way less ammo and bigger weapons or more heatsinks.
The bottom line being, that you might end up with builds for use in Solaris that aren't at all viable in Quickplay and vice versa.
The Problem
Because of the above when you want to switch from one gamemode to the other using the same chassis, you might very likely have to go to the mechlab and reconfigure your mech for the appropriate gamemode. This requires time and effort that could be better spent blowing stuff up, but if you wanna be effective either way you'll have to go through it.
The Suggestion
What I'm asking for, is basically separate loadouts for Solaris. It could for example initially use the loadout that was built using the mechlab outside Solaris, but then any changes made with the mechlab in Solaris are saved for Solaris only and when you go back to regular MWO you get your regular loadout back that works for Quickplay etc.
A simple quality of live change that would save a lot of time reconfiguring loadouts back and forth when switching gamemodes.
Thoughts?

I agree, though I think the skills should be included as well. Skills needed for QP are not the same as those for Solaris.

I agree but by loadout, I would assume that would include Mech skill tree as well as Mech build equipment. As already stated, no point having a seperate loadout but then having to respec between modes.
To be fair, the skilltree differences can be minor but a seperate slot also allows for more experimentation.

A really good idea, I'm pretty much exclusively playing Solaris at the moment, but there will definitely be a time when I want to switch between the two in the same gaming session.

I honestly didn't give skills too much thought, since I didn't think you'd make completely different choices, but sure, why not?!
Only trouble I see is the skill/XP-system currently being designed as kind of a time-/moneysink which begs the question how to deal with that exactly.
Equipment seems simple enough, the only requirement being that you need the equipment for each loadout in your inventory. But Skillpoints you earn by converting XP using CBills, so do you let people redistribute them just like that or have them grind the XP/CBills needed all over again? And then what happens if you wanna change around some skills for one of the two loadouts? Because skillpoints you unassign are lost and need to be replaced by "fresh" ones...
While I'm in favor of skillpoints being separate as well, I think a lot more thought needs to go into that than simply saving two separate loadouts for your mech. Thoughts?
