Can't Patch...

So, it seems I was given an unwanted surprise with this newest update... the inability of my client to patch.


- I have tried patching using the cache files

- I have tried patching downloading directly through the MWO patcher/launcher

- I have used different hard drives in varying combinations for cache/temp dirs

The client always seems to refuse to go past the following point (see image below). I even let it sit patching for a good 6+hrs while i slept and still nothing.

Guys if you don't have the new portal installed then install it. I had the same problem last night but after getting the new portal it downloaded just like normal.

Glad to know im not the only one with this problem. Ive had this problem since the new patcher came in. Ive fixed it by runing the repair tool, aparently each patch causes a corruption in game files making me have to redownload them all over again......... Try using the repair tool and then click fix issues. Hope it helps

edit: Also to speed up scanning process you may want to delete patcher logs it made it easier for the scan dont know if it will work for you though.....

Well, ran repair tool and tried again after updating the launcher. Still hangs at the same spot as before. Well, hopefully it resolves itself sometime soon. Thanks for the info though.

hmmm thats strange, have you enabled administrator startup for mwo? try deleting the desktop shortcut and create a new one from the 64 bit. I think the problem might be from the 32 bit version

edit:also try closing the mwo patcher when running the repair tool

Did you update the portal? Mine did that until i updated

yea, it hung again after for a while but finished after waiting for about an hour. so......... yea its working now.

Mine was doing that as I ran out of disk space. I only had about 15GB free and apparently this patch unpacks itself to as much as that at least, so make sure you have ~20GB to be sure that the install goes through

OK, this worked for


Steps:


1.Downloaded the new portal from https://mwomercs.com/game/download

2.I deleted the entire Piranha Games folder

3.I installed the new portal

4. Copied in the actual MWO folders (minus portal folders of course) from a backup i keep on another hard drive (I have crappy download speeds so its useful to have around)

5.Set the cache/temp dirs up again and hit patch. Does take a while to patch.

You know, there's this thing called Steam that makes games so much easier to manage.

I had this problem yesterday, stuck at 0% for almost 2 hours, so I uninstalled the portal and the game and installed it from Steam (Glad I have Steam installed already) and it downloaded and installed it smoothly like a porn-star's ***..
