There are two obvious problems that is plainly visible.

1: The range and perspective is not adjusted correctly. Looking at the mech right now is like looking at the mech with a vintage point of upper right angle. Also, because of where the mechs are placed on the ground, when rotating mechs in layout view, parts of the mech's shoulder disappear out of view.

Luckily, it's not a big issue and can be quickly fixed. For the perspective, maybe bring the vintage point down around waist, and it would look more align with what the mechlab was like, and not this weird I lift my shoulder one way type of feel. As for the positioning, there are 3 "lots" designated by the yellow markers. Right now, the mech is positioned in between the right 2 and 3 lot location. Not only does that make zero sense, but that's too far to the right. Just move the mech over to lot 2 in the middle, and the shoulder disappearing into view issue should go away.

2: The mech looks like it's placed using bad photoshop skill. (Like someone literally just crop and past an image onto a background and call it a day) There are no shadow, the mech is just floating in space.

Again, luckily, it's not a big deal and I have come up with 2 solutions. The first is to introduce shadow. But that might affect performance and require more artwork. So, I am probably going to rule that out. The second, is to reintroduce the "mist" from the old mechlab. That will cover the ground and obscure the location where the shadow is supposed to be, thus blending the mech with the ground a little bit better.

--------------

I like the rotating and free camera view. But you guys should also consider slowing down the speed of the rotation (again, can be changed by simply changing the movement value, I know game is not programmed in Java, but it's literally one line in Java). It will give the viewing angle a more "epic" feel instead of simply spinning the world like it's a whirlpool.

------------

Overall, I like the change. It's awesome. I just don't think it's finished. But you guys are VERY close, so just fix a few details and we are G.O.O.D. T.O. G.O.

---------

Edit: Ps Just notice another issue, the "loadout" of the maddog Hero doesnt match with the text

Like, the text part of "new slot" and etc doesn't line up with the background grid.

That's not what I am talking about. Inside mechlab, go to "Layout" view.

This might be an issue with resolution issue too. But I am running on 1080p, and I suspect most people are. If someone want to test on 4k or (or the in between one), then we can further narrow down the issue.

Actually my problem with the new mech bay is the godawful load times. Reloading into the bay coming out of a match can take like a full minute or more. Hell the first time I loaded in from a match, I though the game locked up because the "Loading" indicator froze for about 30 seconds.

I mean I think it is cool to be able to rotate the camera around and see the mechs from various different perspectives but if I am going to lose 10 minutes for every hour I play due to loading into the new mech lab, I really wish they would put it back to the old mech bay or perhaps give us an option to choose the old bay if we preferred it.

The load times are atrocious.

Another player suggested that we have ready mechs that we can view and modify at any time, and the rest are in "storage" (unable to modify or camera view). The storage mechs are not loaded and that should significantly reduce mech lab load times. Honestly it is worth a try.

And probably removing the progress bar for Supply Caches would probably help too. Just announce to the player once they have obtained said supply cache. Just keep the progress bar to next supply cache on the MWO website only.

I agree with the OP here.
The view of the 'mech when it's on the right side of the screen in the 'mechlab is just odd. The fisheye effect makes the 'mech look lopsided and larger and heavier on one side.

I think it could be fixed easily by adjusting the FoV setting to lessen that fisheye distortion of geometry around the edge of the camera's FoV. ...Or maybe moving the camera so that it is centered on the 'mech itself rather than the empty space to the left.
As it is now, it just screws up perspective and makes 'mechs look rather goofy.

That being said, it looks fine on those views where the mech is in the center of the screen. I dig the new view that allows you to rotate the y axis and get some cool high and low views of your 'mech. A zoom slider would be a nice addition though.

(I'm a game vet, but a forum noob and I'm not sure how to add screenshots to the post to show what I'm talking about.)
