Have even been moderated for saying "but PGI is not a good company".
In all seriousness though, this was a big addition to the game. There was a couple of little hiccups and the divisions need sorting but the product and delivery was at a level I did not think PGI was capable of. The new look is modern and sleek and the mode looks and feels like a complete product.
Congratulations and thank you for your hard work.
This has actually given me pause to rethink my position on MW5 which I probably will buy now.
Also I don't want to get my hopes up, but certainly if my favourite abandoned step child, CW is passed over by the team who brought us Solaris, you just might squeeze another few grand from me.

It's not huge, deep, or amazing, but I've learned a few things from duels so far, so that alone makes it worth something. I also strongly suspect new players could learn some stuff here, too, provided they don't get run over by meta cheese all the time. We'll see what happens.

The rest of us who are just average players won't be in Solaris because it really isn't any fun at all...
Good luck to you who enjoy it !

It's actually not that bad as an average casual, as soon as you get over caring about having a positive W/L record / need to run the more boring builds. And I reckon that will get better the further away the "winning is the only fun" crowd run their elo gate away from the people that just want to enjoy the game.
-The one thing the mode does well is cut straight to the chase and eliminate all the pointless extra walking around maps - which were designed so that the majority of the map was meant just to walk on.
They actually didn't need to create all these new maps, there's so much unused space on all of the other ones they could have just sectioned a bunch of zones off and brought back old forest and frozen in a couple/few chunked out zones.

What do you mean!? Its ELO based, it'll try to match you best it can with someone equally/unequally skilled, in theory anyway. We'll have to wait a bit for data to come in...so its quite possible to run into an Elite who hasn't played in a while and came back.
But again, they'll rank up quickly, making that matchup again less likely.
What you might be experiencing is the brutal truth of your actual skill level relative to people putting up the same numbers as you. You may think if yourself as average, but...in truth, you're crap.

Now if only PGI revert the forums back to the old color scheme, cause the current one is BAAAAAAD.

Ouch...... I tried one match just to take a look. Played against a T1 player who ran to a boxed corner and never moved, what 30 meters to the corner and never came out.... The only way to shoot at him was w/i his frontal 60 degree arc.... -16 ELO, three alpha's and a loss.... I would have had to bring LRM's to defeat him... LRM's.... Crap? Last night, the team I am on had 4 of our seasoned players drop for the first time in Solaris and I listened in on TS... 20 matches where 2/3 of them had players camping out in terrain niches they could defend from without any possibility of being destroyed. Crap? They gave up an hour later frustrated. They played the same players, over and over and those same players, ran to a corner or niche and did the same thing, over and over... Crap? I talked to several other "average potatoes;" they said the same thing: what is the point of being massacred over and over again...? That's why we left FP... To achieve what? Remember, this is an individual event and what are the rewards?? A few cbills and a whole lot less than QP??? I am a potato and play one handed. I have zero illussion that I'm "GuD" so I play for the fun of it and that is why I only play events anymore.......there hasn't been much fun in 9 months.... Good luck in Solaris to you !

Can you see the logic loop? Not sure if you've realized but there's a pattern in your posts.
You bring subpar loadouts and play in a subpar way (one handed) because you play to have fun > you get crushed by people who play to win > people who play to win and focus on wlr are munchkins and cheese > you don't wanna be a munchkin so you bring subpar stuff and tye cycle repeats.
Solaris has given you all the tools you need to prove your viewpoint on combat is right. You've been championing lurms for a long time now and claiming their effectiveness against direct fire.
Now lurms have been buffed and solaris allows you to go 1v1 or 2v2 (lurm with a spotter) to prove yourself right.
By admission, you're still getting crushed. Even when the system forces you into playing against a ban of similarly skilled players.
Have you and your friends ever wondered if the problem is a pebkac one?

Average players can learn something from solaris and become better players?

You are right about one thing, unless PGI caves of course, it will be a repeat of FP - except those folks that think winning is the only fun will run themselves into boredom while everyone else will be able to avoid them and still enjoy the mode.
The same thing happened the first time they implemented elo as well, the super comp. players found that they ended up only matching up against other super comp. players and they started raging about how stale and boring the game had gotten (and how long their wait times got as many of them realized they didn't want actual competition).
Just let your elo tank running whatever you want to run, you'll head towards more enjoyable matches - even the little bit I've managed so far has been finding matches with people that just want to have a good time without worrying about all the comp/meta nonsense.
So long as PGI doesn't cave and blow open the MM gates forcing these folks to stay in among their own, there should end up being plenty of room for casual vs casual even with the lower population.

This is sure, for me.
I'm not a brawler, and in normal ques, I go for ranges, sniping, flanking, back stabbing, shooting the one is not watching me.
Solaris is an occasion to improve, for sure.

You have written many posts talking about how unfair having teams in FW is to solo players...now PGI actually delivers what seems to be a well put together mode for solo players and you complain that it’s not friendly enough to “the rest of us who are just average players”. Now, you do realize that if their are top 10% skill players, then there are also bottom 10% skill players....who are not average. Not everyone can be average you know.. There is no mode that can be made that will allow such players to do amazing. Solaris is the best hope, with elo they will be matched up more against players as close to their skill as possible. So, some wins are possible and will happen for them. The average MWO player should end up with roughly a 1.0 w/l (more or less) IF the mode stays populated and they don’t get thrown continuously against better players due to lack of population...which may we’ll happen yet. We will see.
