In div3 I found that I was facing lights and meds on EVERY match whilst myself using a marauder.
After the second match I found I could win by just backing against the wall, face tanking whatever I was fighting to win.

eventually they come to me

eventually they run out of ammo or armour

I have plenty of both to spare

I play "shooting gallery" for 6-7 minutes while the little buggers run back and forth attempting to figure out a way to my back CT.

such a difference in tonnage forces me to play like a HUGE **** to win.

I'm fine with putting mechs into divisions based on performance, but when my one leg has more armour than my opponent has all together, we have an issue.

Because I KNOW that I cant out turn the smaller faster mechs doing anything but parking up against a wall and playing turret is my only REAL option.

again, makes me a flaming rooster.

ID RATHER JUST WAIT 2-3 EXTRA MINUTES FOR SOMETHING CLOSER TO MY TONNAGE.

Yeah i was expecting tonnage divisions like MechWarrior4, not PGI decides what's balanced. Cuz they kinda suck at that. Streak kintaros in tier 5 are totally unfair vs. any light without ECM. Mechs can literally see something twice their weight...

Want to watch something funny? Find two good Piranha pilots running train on two Kodiaks.

Don't bring QP mechs to a duel.

I am running into the opposite problem, I"m in a medium and have now lost every single match because I keep getting matched against Assaults.

My Hunter is basically unusable as it is somehow division 1 - up there with Atlas' and the like, wtf? This division thing confuses the crap outta me and hasnt lent itself well to a good experience so far, Solaris is unusable to me thus far because somehow I keep getting matched to people double my tonnage.

If I do win a couple I suspect itll be because I luck out and pick a division where I am heavier than my opponent and do what OP was talking about.

Also 2v2 play I guess doesnt match you to random other player you have to actually make a group and then launch, I was hoping I could be matched to random team mates. Oh well.

I think the division thing needs some adjustment for sure though.

I just got dismantled by a wolf in the caves. To win using a lighter mech try and force the game off of colloseum and factory to maximize your movement potential

It's not just you.

I played a few games and logged off after it was Catapult J vs Banshee in a closed environment.

Dumbest thing I have ever seen. Will wait till this nonsense is over.

Personally think the divisions as are, are rubbish. Assassin vs Highlander IIC, Marauder and Nova vs Fafnir and Atlas, there were other extreme examples but those were the highlights, the weight discrepancies are massive and often prove fatal. I won vs the Highlander with the most slim of margins, and a MAD vs a Atlas in brawl range? Did not end well at all.

There can be interesting moments, but for the most part heavier mechs will usually win against lighter mechs due to armor and firepower.

And as someone who has started to prefer the lighter mechs, it makes Solaris, the mode I have been waiting for a long time, almost a chore. And since I rarely even log into MWO anymore, its pretty much the last nail in the coffin for me.

As fun as solaris is, it is irritating in div.1 running the acw-1, though its understandable why its in div1. Although its gotten to the point that 50% of the fights ive gotten in end up having an assault backing into a corner and not budging or sitting in their spawn with their back to a wall from the start.

Yeah I was in a Stormcrow and got matched up with King Crab with RACs, tore me apart before I could do anything. It's stupid.

My Mad Cat gets matched against Warhawks, Cyclops, Mauler. Is that because I use the Mad Cat Alt A left torso? If so I think this is wrong because all the Solaris 7 maps are forced brawling where the height of weapon mounts is irrelevant.

Is there a place where I can see the possible match-up listings? The TBR A left torso does not make the Mad Cat into a Warhawk or Cyclops you are really out-armored and out-gunned, Gun/Ballistics, being the balance breaker here. Yeah I can beat these mechs some times, but certainly not if they were to bring a good load-out.

Thanks, but it doesn't matter I can see. Just don't bother bringing a Mad Cat, they have it highly over rated. Last 3 matches were against two KDK-3 and one Atlas. Don't have to tell you how that went, they just have too much armor to get through and they blow out one side torso at a time in a couple of shots. I am just switching mechs till they fix Solaris Divisions to something grounded in reality instead of spreadsheets.

Seriously, every match in Div 3 now seems to be against a King Crab. Having a hard time with my 65t Catapult here. Weaponry aside, the sheer amount of armor on those things is making this an exercise in futility. 'Performance Score' may work in theory but trying to strip 90 points of armor while getting UAC'd to bits makes the pandas cry.

I didn't have anything to go to except the Mad Cat, my Orion IIc completely flopped, the side torso thing, so I soldiered on in the Mad Cat. No time for Mechlab. So the Mad Cat can take out Atlas sometimes and KDK-3's sometimes if they don't bring 4x AC's. But if the KDK-3 brings 4xUAC or 4 LB-10X there is nothing you can do because they are in your face after 10 seconds. Ranging is very hard on all these maps and turn around and you get your back shot out in one hit by a KDK-3.

My feedback.

Other than that it's a fun challenge. I lost most matches at first, but winning more than half now..... with a Joystick.

After testing a bit more to try and give Solaris a fair chance, I have repeatedly seen match ups where I am out-massed by 20 or more tons at a time. Or I did the out weighing by as much as 40 tons when I took a Warhammer against an Urbanmech in Division 4. An urbanmech. It was pathetically easy to kill, and somehow the Warhammer 6D and the Urbie perform similarly according to PGI?

Don't even get me started on the Dragon vs Banshee match I just had as of the time of this post. I was outmassed by 35 tons. He simply had the armor to shrug off my damage and blast away with near impunity.

These divisions are supposed to be mechs that perform along the same level, yet I repeatedly will see that this measurement must only be on paper and not in a real pvp scenario. If you must have 7 divisions, then split them up in a way the makes it you are no more than 10-15 heavier or lighter than your opponent. The way they are now, is absolute rubbish. I had high hopes but PGI has, once again, failed spectacularly to balance anything at all. Its almost like they threw darts to determine which mech goes in which division.

TL;DR - Solaris's divisions are rubbish and I am not touching it again.

Welp, first game in Div 5 with my CN9-AL vs a CTF-4X. Completely pointless.

I figured for sure that even with the divisions, that at the very least you would be matched against the same weight class and yet here we are....
