Solaris 7 Division 2, A Fast Paced Heavy/assault Mania

I gotta say, it's pretty intense. Bigger mechs mean bigger guns, and when I'm in my Orion iic going up against a Kodiak, the blood usually gets going.
But... I feel like there's a few outliers I've seen, with the range game.
Supernova. A certain pilot in the top 5 uses one extensively, and to good effect. They always leg which is the best tactic. even in my fast mechs I have trouble closing in on them, 78star. worthy opponent.
Then there's kaumertumskin, in his quad lbx10 Kodiak. he's mean mofo, and ain't afraid to use range to mess you up. not a legged but definitely a good shot.
As for the other two.... I haven't fought them yet. but it will be definitely a wildfire if I ever do go up against them. Ranged game though seems to dominate if it's possible, which isn't always a bad thing, but it'd be nice to have had more balanced maps like mech factory. that map has the perfect blend of range and close quarters to make it a fun map to play on.
But me? I'm in my trusty ol' Orion-IIC-A, smashing down anyone and mostly for the part who dares tries to brawl with me. now I wait for bolt-ons for my mech :-)
I give Solaris a 8/10 rating as of now, plenty of work to be done but generally well made for so many mechs.

Funny you say that.
Met at least 3 bad pilots before. two admitted their skills. I obliged and put my srms to chain fire and fought them there.
One was in a maddog with 2 large pulse and a AC/10(not uac). he kept overheating and died. made me sad really.
I like a challenge. to stomp on someone of lesser skill is bad. challenges like 78star and Kaumertumskin are the reasons why I play Solaris. it helps me become a better player overall.

I'm finding Div 2 to have a LOT more diversity than 1 or 3. By a huge margin. More options, more counters.
Div 4 looks like it's probably the same but I haven't really tried it.

div 5 I like better than div 4. I get to play urbanmechs....

I got sick of King Crabs only in Div 3 and proceeded to either try totally different KGC builds or other mechs....
and promptly lost my way down like 40 spots with a string of 10 losses or so.
Div 1 is sorta fun in the Anni because Anni fights are incredibly technical. It's a lot of repeated hits in the same location and very few options to avoid so a win or loss often comes down to very precise positioning and gun work which is, in its own abstract way, kinda fun. More so than Crab fights. 'Does this map have reasonable options to cover legs? Yes? Aim CT. No? Legs.'
I'm already concerned that I'm going to lose interest in Solaris inside of a month. Maybe some other divisions will be more fun and keep my attention.

You needed it, don't lie.
I could have just mudered you in my king crab and be on my way. but I don't like doing that. it's wrong.
There's others who actually deserve a swift death, but you aren't one of them.

Just remember that the higher your division the more earnings you get.
and at the end of a season there's rewards.... though what exactly I'm not sure.

Medpulse supernova is super good. The lb10 kodiak can be used as a quad cac10 kodiak as well. It has the gretest range of most assaults out there.
Medpulse also finds itself used best on a nova which for some reason killed my atlas. That was pretty unexpected but a good player can use 50t to kill 100 t.
Also 2 x LB20 maddogs are a thing. They have small ish hitboxes and arm movement which allows for some good twist and shoot with movement.
2XLB20 warhammers. Some srm6 cyclops which admittedly can be outranged pretty severely.
2x LB10, 4 medlas marauders. Tehy have good hitboxes and armor bonuses.
Atlases lb20 4 srm6

Div 3 has more limited selection for my mech bay but feels more even. When I lose, I know it was because the other guy had a better build or was a better shot. No big tonnage deference as of yet.
