Yes I think its a success . I love it but my lil brother hates it.

Its a welcome add on and if you enjoy piloting and building 100 ton splat mechs you have a huge advantage .

Not everyone enjoys playing dakka mechs or assaults or hugging .

At the very least there should be a game mode where you can only square off with an equal tonnage mech . Respect to those few ace pilots who can pawn assaults using mediums or heavies but most of us cannot do that .
I love splat and 100 ton fatty mechs but I crap my shorts if I play in anything smaller . The less tonnage i go , the bigger the risk . Posted Image

The idea behind an arena fight between a light and an assault is already failed because of the design of the maps. They stand with their backs at the wall and thats it, game over. So the conclusion is that you cant use THE advantage of lights and mediums against fatties, the mobility. That leads to the point that is doesnt make sense to use most of the lighter mechs of a division, so in fact, for the most player most chassis are useless.

Additionally the waiting times are killing my fun too.

Ive been in a kodiak were i did this, the pirahna ran up to my legs, stopped (this jammed me against the wall so i couldnt move), then shot through my fully armoured legs in 30 seconds and won, while all i could do was sit there, since hes well below my guns.

Lights snd assaults shouldnt be put together. Its just asking for problems.

So in div 1 & 2 where I have mastered mechs, I do ok with a positive ratio. In the other divs, I only have unmastered mechs so those frequently get stomped or its an even wlr.

However I look at it this way. If I win, yay I got a win. However if I lose, I get softer competition next game. And the competition is really soft when you have a poorer wlr. In div 1 and 2, I always have to put in more effort. In the other divs, you can just do whatever and its fun because the competition is clearly softer when you are not in the top of the div.

Second this. It also seems to me that currently you can run any build as long as you don't care about ascending in the leaderboards.

Some mechs I rememeber seeing that had WLR about 1 over a sufficient amount of games: laser vomit Hellbringer,
gauss vomit Night Gyr, brawler Huntsman (okay, brawling is meta, but many were saying that you can only bring Annis to Div1). Then I'm having a similar WLR with ATM Huntsman and SHC. Finally, remember the lpl + mpl Supernova and PPC Shadowcat in the tops of respective divisions. These two must be exceptional pilots, but if they have reached top 10, their builds are probably viable for an average player to get wins half of the time. Isn't 50% winrate enough to have fun and not complain about meta?

This I would call a success. Solaris is far less restrictive than expected. And people were saying it would be rocket launchers only, haha.

Jep, the other direction. These MGs are another thing...they are way beyond ridiculous.

D.O.A.

same issue which ruined this game in beta, now magnified one hundred fold when seen in isolation: success/failure built around destruction of modular mech meets lazy pin point front loaded damage.

The game design was flawed from the start

The continued success of Solaris rests squarely on PGI's ability to make the minor changes the community is letting bubble to the surface. They should be on these forums right now taking notes and holding Kaizen events to improve on Solaris. Make the experience even better.

Unfortunately Russ does not appear to be that type of leader. Leaders all have strengths and weaknesses, his is holding on to his idea far to long. Ie: Long Tom, initially everyone was excited about the new phase of Faction Play but the inability to make adjustments and changes let it metastasize into cancer. I fear the same type of leadership will do the same to Solaris.

If you want to have a good working company, you should do this permanently. Nothing is more important than the satisfaction of customers.

I'd pay pure gold for the possibility that gaming companies have: Their own forum with tons of feedback, suggestions, ideas, critizism and so on. Thats unbelievable important to set the right strategies and customer support.

By being arrogant you just harm yourself as company. Especially if you already have the best tool for customer desires adjustments. Its so easy to use that i'm really angry to see this negligently behaviour.

IMO theres a huge lack of understanding what this game should deliver to the customers. Battletech Lore? FPS Shooter? Competitive Game for E-sports? Just a respawn shooter with mechs?

Why FP for e-sorts shooter? Why unbalancing when not Battletech lore? Why long loading times for short FPS Shooter?

Why 2-ways-maps for tactical gameplay? Oh i could write 2 pages more about that, but thats not business. Imn playing as long as i can manage the DCs, stuttering, loading times and the discrepancy of Solo- & Teamplay.

Damit PGI, use this Forum, be smart, learn & adapt, get successfull, make Money by delivering a good game and win your legal fights. Thx.

based on steam charts solaris is smaller than the civil war launch

I often wonder how many people, like myself, never switched to steam, and how that may deflate the numbers.

One thing it will allow me to do is to configure mechs for 1v1 builds and other mechs for QP. Sadly, I have a lot of mechs that are just frustrating as hell to play in QP.

I like it! Even though I suck mostly, mainly because I do wonky stuff like making a 3L Raven with Stealth Armor that has rockets and lasers; just to annoy and mess around-I have a great time.

Being the non-meta amongst the meta always appeals to me. XD

Ishiyama and Mechhangar map the only good Maps ..all other is fight of a Toilet

Metafights with a Handfull Metamechs
When im will play a Mecharenagame im can play Heavy Gear from Mektek or MWLL Arena
Prices looks most horrible like we fight not for Mech Formula One Stables
x bills and Xps is in other Modes more and easy as in S7
and the Ports ...looks more like Orc Hordes or Scrapyard sponsors..(Little axes in not animated Arms looks so stupid)..why nor cool streamline Spolers for Weaponarms with hanging Sponsor abnners ? colorfull Sponsor Camos, Backbanner ...spikes thats looks cools or bayonets and not Hostel meets Saw Fallout madmax spikes

cool Weapon Covers in sponsor Colors

As to the 'write Russ on twitter'

As I've posted else where: ....sure if I wanted a twitter account, I shouldn't have to have an account outside of MWO to provide feedback or get responses, that's pure BS...just wow...

PGI can't be bothered to read or post on their own Forums....the ONLY company that I've ever heard of that does this, should tell you something.

If you take your stats and what percentage of the population you reside in off of jarlslist, you can see theres ~ 30,000 people who play this game enough to place on the leaderboards.

Been playing pretty much nothing but Solaris since it dropped. Most fun I've had in MWO in a long while. A lot of old mechs are new again in the lower divisions (CTF-4X is META?!??). Most fun is in division 4-7 with a wide selection of loadouts that can work. Divs 1-2 are all meta tryhard loadouts.

Trust me all developers behave pretty much the same way.
Some completely ignore the forums
Some read the forums but don't react to anything
Some read the forums and react..but force their own opinions anyway.

And sometimes, that's the best thing to do.

Can't really listen to the forums since there's so much noise. Better just to vent if needed on forums and walk away.
