Maybe yes, maybe no.... People complain about free mechs that are given away. Personally, I'm not touching S7 because it really isn't of any value. Yes, unique weapons or camoflague are incentives, retention and sale tools. You'd have to play S7 to get the weapons.

I can't say "ask yourself" because you sit at the other end of the game than I do. So, I've asked myself and others like me: "what would motivate a below or average player to spend the time kill getting massacred over and over again?" Very little except for: "Stuff !" Especially, neat stuff, you can't get elsewhere. Especially the GSP idea ! That was number #1.

To you, this would be boring if simply implemented... I'd tie rewards to ELO improvement.... That way, new players, if they "put the time in" are rewarded for significant improvements and guys like you, would have to very seriously work to get the same rewards...

Change the paradigm.... Just a thought and it's the basis of how "other games" create incentives....

That's too easy to game, by simply dropping down Elo intially and then climbing back up.

That's a misguided way of looking at things. PGI is not gonna penalize anyone with such a mechanic, just offering extra for those who actually care to grind. It is meritocracy, of sorts.

Nope. Your wrong. the penalty comes in the form of longer que times and worse game play experiences in QP. What your forgetting is that all the modes are currently competing for the same players and when you don't have a player base that has a large enough amount of players to support all play modes, your robbing Peter to pay Paul so to speak.

I have been on the bad side of this in Armored Warfare. They made it so that the PvE portion of the game offered the quickest and easiest progression both in terms of experience gain and income gain and the result was that PvP became a ghost town. I hated PvE so only participated in PvP. The Ques reached 5 minutes long and even after all that time, you would find yourself dropping in 5 vs 5 matches instead of the 15 vs 15 matches you were suppose to be participating in. After a couple weeks of of this sorry state of affairs, I uninstalled the game and have never looked back.

So if they were to make one mode the defacto best way to earn C-bills or otherwise progress in the game, other modes end up suffering and anyone who enjoys those other modes gets the short end of the deal big time.

PGI can make it so you do 3x QP, 10x Solaris and 1x FP per day and get rewards for incentives.
  • Complete 3x QP matches with minimum (x) match score - [Rewards]
  • Complete 10x Solaris matches in 1v1 or 2v2 - [Rewards]
  • Complete 1x FP or 2x Scouting matches with minimum (x) match score - [Rewards]
  • Complete all 3 tasks - Get 10% C-bills and XP bonus in any mode for 12 hours (or something)
I mean if rewards for each were like 1 HSP or something then I'd go for it. :P

I'm not so sure. The law of averages and a lot of other math dribble theories would identify "anomalous" behaviors pretty easily. Simple code as well that already exists in other game and is well received by their communities...

Just above this reply is another idea that could work. Other games have some very good ideas that would work as well.

The real problem is that any "change" potentially changes existing power structures and that could make those whom believe themselves super heroes in the existing game a bit nervous.... Like the FP "killers" who get decimated in S7 or the absolute noob in everything else comes to dominate S7; extremes and extreme variations...

All ideas would need a home in PGI's R&D staff that doesn't seem to exist and, since they really don't read any of these threads it seems, ideas flit away (and some of what you'all suggest is efficient and brilliant),

Solaris already has incentives to play. Fast cbill earning, fast matches, no pugs, and fast caches.

If that's not enough, then nothing will be for you.

The underlined part is why I mostly play Solaris instead of QP. Posted Image

If I lose, the fault is mine alone. And sometimes due to frame skipping in the Jungle.
