No, it's not.
The new Mechbay camera is great.

The new version is much better in my opinion as I can see more from a different angle as I see fit of my mech. Just me. Posted Image

Finally being able to place decals in more places without having to hope and pray that it'll actually go where I want is a godsend. I will not complain about anything that made that possible.

Only thing I dislike is the fact that lighter mechs look so distant from the default. Other than that though, its a nice addition to the game.

Of not mistaken it is the same as you set. It looks good at 60.

I'd say it's a matter of personal preference. I and my one buddy who plays both hate it. It's a simple aesthetics thing, so no big deal, but I cry a little inside when I think about the time and money spent on developing it that could have gone towards...well, anything actually useful as far improving the game.

Features like this are why I no longer spend money on MWO and why I yell at my buddy when he gifts me things, because I know that money is being invested in frivolous features instead of optimization or any number of actually requested features. PGI is of course free to spend their time and resources on whatever they choose, however it is for a fact costing them money when players such as myself don't agree with said choices and keep our wallets shut. Is what it is.

I’ll play around with the settings. But on my screen if I click on say, a Kodiak or Sunspider they both are so apparently close to the “lens” as to fill the screen, where as if I click on a Mist Lynx, it is seemingly much further away to the point where I can hardly make out decals or other features. In any case I like the view over all.

The default view is a bit over the top and makes a mech look like a tarantula.
With that said, we can finally look at the $#%%#$ mechs.

I dislike the FOV of the new mechbay as well, it's like a fisheye effect. Mech arms look bowed and weird.

Weirdness... I haven't been seeing any negative issues with the New MechBay Visual when I'm looking at it. However, I have my In-Game FOV set to 80, so I wonder if that's having an effect on it.

Try between 60 and 75, that's what is on most FPS games where you're human scale. On Alien: Isolation you get the fisheye effect from 78 up to 120. Here its debatable as on mechs you can get up to 90 before starting to fisheye but on the ground you get that effect on the ground even at 80.

i wouldnt mind being able to get up on the catwalks so i could look at the mech from above. everything about it screams minimally viable.

I don't like the deformed fisheye lens perspective.

The new Mech Hangar view was very timely. As I am no longer able to get a match, I can at least admire my expensive unusable Mechs from many angles.

Viewing the Mechlab in the loadout menu when it is in column view the selected Mech is distorted sitting on the right side of the screen. It's particularly obvious when rotating to a front or rear view that the side of the Mech nearest to the right edge of the screen is enlarged. Probably a byproduct of the same fisheye effect that is present in the cockpit view when looking around.

My fov is 60. Here's an example, look at my annhilator's arms from the front, they bow outwards:

Now look from top down view, they're supposed to be straight:

they did it because it was easy. lowest hanging fruit, done in the most minimally viable way possible. its what i come to expect from pgi.

things like bugfixes and balance, those are hard. at least for pgi. but you can tell your art team to model a room and do the bare minimum fps camera possible and call it a major feature. people shouldnt waste time asking for small stuff like this. it just gives pgi more low hanging fruit. id rather they work out crushing some of the thus far crippling limitations of their engine.
