Ok I got to admit that I do like the easy to knock out events we have been getting as they are something I can typically do even if I don't have alot of time to play but recently I have found myself wishing I had an actual reason to play more than the 2-3 battles required to knock out the event requirements and that brings me back to the leaderboard events we used to have.

What was good about them was they were open ended and generally the more you played the more opportunity there was to improve your score and move up the leaderboard. There was also the competition factor that drove you to play just one more match in hopes of pushing up into the next tier of rewards.

Basically, I guess what I am getting at is we need events that give us something to accomplish and a reason to play, especially on the weekend, that go beyond a task that we can easily accomplish with minimal play. I just have recently found myself logging in but failing to find any motivation to play more than a few matches simply because there is no goals and nothing to strive for. I knock out the current events in a couple matches then nothing but grinding for C-bills. Even when a new mech comes out, it only generally takes 5-10 matches to knock out the entire event. Again I like that I can knock out some events quickly when I have limited time but would love to see some more complex events that give me a reason to play 20-30 matches in a session, preferable something open ended.

Nah, certain players will then cry. They wanna win every "challenge" prize, with minimal effort.

Wasn't there a suspected cheating problem when the challenge events were substantial? I think that is one reason they are so lame now.

Wait a minute? Don't we have an event with two 500 match score requirements? Are you saying a MS of 500 is too easy?

And for those us new or newer to MWO, what were the "old Leader board challenges?"

Leader board challenges where not that hard, just more competitive when the top prizes where 1k-4k MC.

The harder challenges had multiple components like get a win,a kill, and assist and a match score of 500 (actually MS were smaller then more like 250 I think hard to recall.) and you had had to get it all in one match. I think there may have even been a damage amount in there to.

If they removed the grind i would be all for it. If they would do best 10 out of 20(or more) i would be for it. Only way i made the top 5 was to play the same mech all weekend. This got really boring towards the end.

MS of 1000 would be a cool challenge (QP of course)

And the 500 MS one is literally called the Tryhard. Posted Image

Used to be that a given chassis group (say, Cataphracts) would be graded based on X number of best games for it for a given pilot, resulting in a leaderboard. The top of each leaderboard got prizes.

If you have issue witb this one, match score is basically damage. Just get into a lrm boat and spread worthless damage around :)

Match score event is easy. Just bring dual AMS mech, destroy hundreds of missiles, and do a bit of damage and that's it. Even a noob can do it.

As for old hard challenges, there was the To the Victors challenge, where you could earn a Victor champion mech if you earned 20 points.

In order to score only 1 point you must:

Get 1 or more Kill, Get 1 or more Assist, Survive, and Win the match via either the Primary or Secondary objectives. Do it twenty times. Plenty of pugs were broken by that challenge, cause they couldn't win most of the time, and even if they somehow won they still had to get a kill, and survive the match.

Current tryhard challenge is kid's play in comparison.

Still remembering that Victor event. It was glourius.

If someone cry and lament for long and difficult challenges, and wants easy ones.....why not both?

I hated the leaderboard events because the quality of gameplay went straight to the toilet.

Thanks. Sounds like a neat challenge. That means, PGI won't do that..... I don't really keep track of my Match Scores so 500 sounds pretty tough. The 250's were difficult and I wonder how long 500 will take?

Events at least keep retired player's accounts open... Hope to see you'all out there.

The tryhard event is what you are waiting for.
Appropiately named and gives up to 600 MC.

Alternatively, tomorrow I think is Cbills day.

I felt the original leader board events were the best, only awards for the top 100,, then a 'better' one at 75 or 50 25 etc.

You got a place on those, it felt like you achieved something.

I think of was a combination of expoilts and crying that resulted in what we have now

P.G.I really should consider both .

People using robots they weren't familiar with, frequently unskilled, building them willy-nilly?

What possibly could go wrong?

And what do you think about quality of gameplay when half team of both sides run toward the enemy to launch uav and die ..."gloriously"?

In recent event I played 2 matches, and then I had to quit to vomit

I think that's more aggression than I usually see in the solo-queue.
