We did it guys. We got those clan laser nerfs removed by crying hard enough.

According to Russ the idea now is to PTS it and nerf it after said PTS. Meaning, they still convinced their approach is right, and they just need to communicate it better. That's hardly a victory.

Maybe it is right we could be wrong. Or maybe the pts will fail like others have.

I just hope they give out rewards for testing or very few will download the test.

If they went live with this patch i dont think thats what i would have done. I would have kept all 6 and fired with ghost heat when i could cool down and fired 4+2 when i couldn't.

Maybe increased to 4med with 1 heavy

Even more when i was thinking about it i planned on changing my jag to something along the lines of 1lpl+3med group with another 1lpl+3med group.


What i wasn't happy about is for example my 2 heavy laser kitfox. Did it really need a nerf?

Absolutely.

It's a Clan Mech. it's OP by default.

Honestly though, that's been one of the more frequently cited reasons the nerfs have been opposed for: Hitting the worse Mechs way harder than the good ones.

One of my biggest complaints is that things have been working just fine in QP and even FP for a while now and aside from a few diehards complaining about balance, most complaints have disappeared when it comes to Clan vs IS. Then suddenly Solaris comes out and then there are huge changes and nerfs and quite a few to individual mechs are very clearly and directly due to situations that are happening in Solaris. I honestly don't give two piles of dog dung about Solaris and I have said it before, you can't balance the game around what happens in a 1 vs 1 fight and that is exactly what PGI seems to be doing. I have zero doubts that they want to put these changes in because in a 1 vs 1 duel, the high alpha strikes that you can achieve with Clan weapons are a problem. The issue is that they aren't really all that much of a problem in a 12 vs 12 so why do those of us who can care less about 1 vs 1 dueling getting punished because of a competitive game mode that many of us don't even play?

Solaris is about competition and finding the most effective, meta builds on meta mechs and then competing to see who is best. It should never be able balancing the game so every one of the hundreds of mechs and mech variants we have in the game are equally competitive against each other. I don't even know why anyone would try to do that.

So honestly I am glad they are re-evaluating things and at least seeing how things work out on the test server before such a massive change.

IS mechs don't have anything at all to worry about. They work just find and in alot of cases are actually better than Clan mechs. I know because I own 109 of them many of which I play quite regularly. The only complaint I have is that I think most IS mediums aren't quite up to par with Clan mediums and I wish they would up-tweak the agility on many of the IS mediums by about 10-15% to compensate.

totally true, besides the fact that 90ish% of mechs in MRBC and tournaments are clan, and IS has never won a single FP event, the game is very balanced. I agree.

I think the biggest problem is that PGI left Clan laser vomit unchecked for nearly 5 years, allowing Clammers to get accustomed to the cheesy playstyle.

TBH, these balance issues should have been nipped in the bud after the first Clan PTS 4 years ago, but, of course, PGI gonna PGI.
