Thanks Bullseye.

So if I had 7 ML's, I'd need to wait over 0.5 seconds between the 6th and 7th shot, to avoid the ghost heat?

To avoid it - yes.

But often eatingthe ghost heat and moving back into cover is better than firing 6+1 or 3+4 with the added face time.

I alpha 5ERLL on my Battlemaster all the time. 4 triggers ghost heat and 4 the ghost heat only gets to 75% on the heat bar. So again, less exposure time is better in that build for what it is used for.

Don't be afraid of ghost heat on some weapons. Again Smurfy tells you all of this info... Not sure why people are saying here that the info cannot be located, as that is just incorrect.

Have made myself intimately familiar with smurphy. Very useful site.
But while it clearly defines the 'ghost heat' groups, it doesn't really do much to explain the question surrounding the pseudo debate that is now occurring.

Which seems to stem from this 0.5s 'queue' that's being talked about.

I certainly think I understand it better now, but there seems to be two ideas presently.

1. Anything fired within a 0.5s window, is considered an Alpha Strike for the purposes of ghost heat.

2. Anything fired within 0.5s of the previous weapon completing it's duration is considered an Alpha Strike for the purposes of ghost heat.

As far as I can tell these both rely on one particular fact being true.

- A weapon leaves the 'ghost heat queue' 0.5s after it STARTS firing

OR

- A weapon leaves the 'ghost heat queue' 0.5s after it FINISHES firing (ie. Lasers with duration)

Additionally what confused me initially was I thought a weapon would NOT leave the 'ghost heat queue' if another weapon was subsequently added to the queue before the 0.5s was up. It seems this is not the case, which does simplify it for me.

So I wasn't sure if I could fire a total of 7 ML's within a 0.51s period, or if I needed to wait 0.5s between firing EACH ML in the chain.

ie. 6+1 vs 1+1+1+1+1+1+1 (each + being the time needed to wait to prevent ghost heat buildup).

If you have 10 lasers say....

Firing 7 gets ghost heat.

You can fire 6 and then 4, equal to 10 without triggering ghost heat if you space it 0.5s apart. Ghost Heat resets every 0.5s in terms of total trigger.

This is how it works.
