I've dropped on Solaris City twice tonight, can we get an increase of this map so we can get the event done?


Its bad enough that when it comes up it doesn't get voted for but its made even worse when you can't even spend your multiplier on it.

It got picked almost every time it was up for vote yesterday. Lose once to Canyon Network, I think.

I just wanted to earn a free rocket girl, I've played roughly 30 matches now and seen it only 2 times still and both times I lost on it, I just need one victory.

Can't get Solaris City at all, and I'm in a few discord servers and other people are complaining about the same problem.


I tweeted Russ but he is asleep (its like 1 am where he is). Since the map doesn't seem to support Escort or Incursion it is a bit less likely to come up and it seems they didn't bother to turn up the rate of the map during the map event.

For me, it still hasn't been picked even a single time since the patch.

PGI said way back that they were changing the map randomiser so they could upweight maps when needed for challenges.

You don't need to complete it within the first 24 hours.

/edit: Four out of my last five games were on SC. Back to back. I'd like to not see it pop up more often. I love my Brawlers and I have a LB20 fetish, but potato tornado around the center is getting a little stale already.

I've only been on the map once since its inclusion.

And i had to burn a 6+ multiplier for it.
Haven't been on it since.

I played on it several times but unfortunately it was before the Challenge had begun. I would love to have the prizes and the GXP and MXP necessary to skill my new Mad Dog Bandit.

I got it once in like 25 drops. I think people prefer cold open maps for lots of lurming and sniping. Which is a little silly because it always devolves into a brawl at some point. The one drop I had on SC was great, ended with us losing about 12-7 but it all fell apart at the end and was close for about the first five minutes. I was driving a Warhawk and shot a Hellbringer off an overpass, then chased a damaged Warhawk around a corner right into an ambush by an Atlas, a Mad Cat Mk II, and a Blood Asp. Never saw it coming, they weren’t registering on my radar. You don’t get that on any other map, it was most excellent. You also get a feeling of size-stomping past buildings, you see just how big a battlemech actually is. Though you’d think we’d cave buildings in when stomping over them, LOL.

A bad map design is a bad map design.... If pilots aren't voting for it..............the reason is because the map is a mess. Choke points that stall the entire map, with no where to go. Endless assault's blocking the only route in and the really bad news is: when they die, no matter who is left.........."game over man." Tweeting Russ won;t change a thing because we've been asking for a new map for forever.... Well,there we are. Who says we have to fight that map the same way every time?

Yeah, all the issues with optimisation and QA aside, PGI did manage to put a focal point in the centre that people rally around. Again. And the fight focuses around that area 9/10 times...

I mean, it's the same for most maps - Rubelite being the biggest outlier, in my opinion - but man, it did get old fast in Solaris City.

I am pretty sure people not voting for a map usually has very little to do with alleged "bad design". <shrugs>

Whow, yesterday evening played like 9 matches total, only thing left for event is one more Solaris City match and 0.001 second to play on this map, lol, although I always try to counter-pick Solaris City with voting (because of lag).

The only thing that really bothers me is that for 13 days or so, people will be actively voting and picking Solaris City. PGI stated they would optimize this map. So, maybe it would be a better idea to fix this map first and then start the event, PGI?...

I personally prefer having the freedom of choice and don't really need a big brother algorithm telling me what map I am allowed to spend my time on next.

if you can't find plenty of avenues of approach and departure...I don't know what to tell you....

Yep a lot of streets but PGI yet again focused the play to the center which makes for boring play. Hope to see some capture and escort missions soon just to break up the monotony. It is a petty map though.... PGI should go with more asymmetrical maps and put in random spawn points to stir things up and keep things more interesting.
