I want to buy one of the following heroes, please tell the good, the bad and the foul of your favourite hero.

List (by chassis name, not its hero name):
Nova
Stormcrow
Archer
Marauder (IS)
Night Gyr
Warhammer
Cyclops.

Thank you.

Of that the Slipnir, Bountyhunter, runner up would be Black widow.

Slepnir will be dual HGuass, and meds; or uac5s
BH: 7MLs and Hgauss,
Blackwidow: You can do tons of things with the thing, problem is, you can also do tons of thing with the 6R and its for cbills.

I'd probably pick up the Slipnir.

Slipnir with dual Hgauss prints money.

The Sleipnir and Black Widow are the better of those mechs. The Black Widow can run quad 5 rated autocannons, or Dual LB-20Xs. The Sleipnir runs Quad LB-10Xs or dual DGR.

The Sleipnir used to be one of the best heroes in the game, but the proliferation of other big ballistic assault mechs, with good armor quirks, has reduced it's draw. The Black Widow isn't exactly unique either, but I think it's a stronger chassis overall. If nothing else, running Dual LB-20Xs with a C-Bill bonus is awesome.

I'm extremely pleased with the Bounty Hunter II I picked up with this sale. I need more practice with it but right out of the box it performs like a champ. You can do the brawling AC 20 + 2 Snub PPC build, or go for Gauss + Laser vomit, or grab some Heavy Gauss and lasers, or do a full laser vomit with an AC 5 or LBX 10 support.

The frontal profile of the Inner Sphere marauder can't be beat for twisting damage, and its agility profile with 0 skill points is absurdly good. The +15% total medium laser range quirk applies to standard, pulse, and ER Mediums as well.

Nova
Stormcrow
Archer
Marauder (IS)
Night Gyr
Warhammer
Cyclops.

Nova "Breaker"
Missiles aren't really worth it on a Nova and it's not really starved for E hardpoints, so the unique 2M LA & 2E LT aren't worth the price. However, it's still a Nova, which is a top 3 Medium in my books. If you like the camo or want a C-Bill boost Nova, go for it.

Stormcrow "Lacerator"
The Stormcrow lacks the tonnage to really pull off dual ballistics. Don't bother, unless you *really* want dual AMS, the camo or a C-Bill boost.

Archer "Tempest"
Sure, it has ECM, but it's still an Archer. Skip it.

Marauder "Bounty Hunter II"
I'm told it's possibly the best IS Heavy at the moment. However, I don't find it performs any better than my MAD-5M. Get it if you absolutely *need* to run Gauss + 7E weapons, love the camo or want the C-Bill boost, otherwise stick with the MAD-5M or MAD-3R.

Night Gyr "Jade Kite"
Unique 2B LT & 2M RT, but that LT only has 5 slots and missiles aren't great on the Night Gyr. Once again, only bother is you love the camo or really want a C-Bill boost.

Warhammer "Black Widow"
Like the WHM-6R but swaps 1B+2E torso for 2B+1E instead. Decent dakka platform, get it if you will use 3-4 ACs, otherwise stick to the WHM-6R.

Cyclops "Sleipnir"
It's a slimmer, faster Mauler (sans missiles). If you have Maulers already, fell free to skip it. If you wished your Maulers could go faster, pick it up.

SLEIPNIR 44 27 17 1.59 54 25 2.16

4 UAC, or 2 HGauss + 4 ML.
Good engine options and mobility too.

Stormcrow.

Screw the original config - buy some pods and make yourself an Echo variant. The thing is a kill-stealing clean-up specialist once fully skilled.

The Marauder hero is nothing special, but getting into nearly any MAD chassis gives you that sweet high mount for gauss or RAC.

Marauder "Bounty Hunter II" It just works.

It has to be my most played IS hero mech and hero mech in general. It's rather simple to build and run.

Heroes are a poor value proposition. Buy mechbays which are 50% off.

First, I agree mechbays, I mostly spend my time leveling new mechs, and this is a two- three time a year sale for those. Buy thirty, and be set for a year.

Second, I admit my first love was the marauder and warhammer when I was playing thirty years ago so that may inform my choices, but I believe the black widow war hammer with Dakka for offense like in FP and bounty hunter marauder with a uac20 and pulse lasers for the QP brawl. If I had to settle on one, it would be the marauder for it’s tankyness.

Nova
???

Stormcrow
Lacerator can use pods to do all the other Stormcrow builds, like the streakcrow. Solid.

Archer
ECM on an inner sphere heavy, but still horribly low cockpit and arm mounts. The CT has 2E and 1M slot but can only use two of them. Only get if you really like the archer. People like to waste a heavy on LRM, but 2x MRM30 + 4ML, while hot, does better.

Marauder (IS)
???
Marauders have good geometry. I'm also hearing mostly positive things about this one. Don't know enough to give advice though.

Night Gyr
???

Warhammer
Black Widow has 4 torso ballistics - can run all kinds of builds, from 4ML 2AC20 up to 4 (U-)AC5. Pretty good, but the WHM-6R does all dual ballistics builds for C-Bills.

Cyclops
Sleipnir also has 4 torso ballistics, but is a bit slower than the warhammer. Then again, more armour and more tonnage available. Can go with up to 4x 10s if you don't mind being a bit slower due to standard engine.

He needs a hero
He's holding out for a hero 'til the end of the night
It's gotta be strong
And it's gotta be fast
And it's gotta be fresh from the fight

I'd like to point out that to use the 4B on the Blackwidow, you need to cut down on the engine pretty hard. Therefore, the Sleipnir is better if you intend to use bigger guns.

Sleipnir. Dual HGauss. You can also do UAC/5s or something but who the **** would want to when you can be a walking can opener?

I own the Sleipnir and its an awesome mech. Shame the Cataphract hero not one sale, The ilya-muromets is one of my favorite hero mechs. I would highly recommend it.

But the Bounty Hunter is good, might pick one up on this sale.

Nova: If you like Novas and don't want to shell out for the Wave I pack for a C-Bill bonus, this is a good cheaper alternative. Run it how you want.

Stormcrow: Doesn't really add anything different to the table other than a right arm ballistic. Same principle as the Nova.

Archer: I run mine with MRM60/6 SPL + ECM, once you get used to the idea that enemies will see you over the ridge before you see them (lower cockpit) it's pretty solid, although you can do better.

Marauder: As previously stated.. it just works. Common IS hero for a reason.

Night Gyr: Meh at best. Sure it can be a nice gunboat for a heavy and has laser heatsinks, but its mobility or lack thereof is what kills it.

Warhammer: Can never go wrong with the Black Widow like the Bounty Hunter, solid performer in all regards.

Cyclops: Best IS assault hero. You'll have fun in it guaranteed.

Thanks all for your advice, I was doubting mostly between Sleipnir and Black Widow when I opened this thread, may be leaning more towards Black Widow. But after reading this thread I got Sleipnir. Very solid with 2 Hgauss + 3 ERML. Posted Image
