I have a short question on the IS UAC/10: is it working as intended that the dual UAC/10 in my ANH-2A always double fire, no matter if I double click or not? I can exclude that this is due to my mouse (switched weapon groups). And the same effect occurs if I fire only one of the two weapons. With the dual UAC/5 in the same mech, this does not happen. That is, I have to click again in order to double fire the weapon.
Thanks!

You mean the two shots?
UAC/10 for the IS does 2 shot bursts as a single fire. The double fire is four bullets.
Each bullet does 5 damage.

IS UAC10 fires two shots per click each dealing 5 points of damage. The normal IS AC10 fires only one round. IS UAC20 fires three rounds per click.
Both AC5 and UAC5 fires only one shot per click.
Both AC5 and UAC5 fires only one shot per click.

The UAC/20 for the IS does 3 bullets per trigger pull, each doing 6.67 damage.
Meanwhile for the Clans... the UAC/5 does 2 bullets per click at 2.50 damage, the UAC/10 does 3 bullets per click at 3.33 damage per bullet, and the UAC/20 does 4 bullets per click at 5 damage per bullet.
Meanwhile for the Clans... the UAC/5 does 2 bullets per click at 2.50 damage, the UAC/10 does 3 bullets per click at 3.33 damage per bullet, and the UAC/20 does 4 bullets per click at 5 damage per bullet.

This true, unfortunately means you spray damage at your opponent. LBX-10 is great up close.

The bursts are pretty fast, but like lasers there's always going to be a little spread on a moving target. The UACs for the Clans burst so fast that they are better than any single laser in terms of damage by the 0.1 second, but its easier to mass laser vomit than to mass ballistic vomit so laser vomit tends to be favorited. Plus easier to use.
LBX makes a good alternative in some cases. Particularly with the bonus damage they universally get thanks to higher crit chances. (15% of all crit damage caused by the projectile/beam becomes a bonus to structure damage inflicted by the shot. LBX gets double damage to crits, so they net twice as much as normal ACs on top of the higher chance to net the crits). Despite being "shotguns" in MWO, they work to 3 times their range for the IS.)
(Its worth noting that they function at the same level that games had been limited to for many years and what they've been reduced to in post 90s fluff as a result, but the earliest fluff in the 80s suggested that they function more like flak cannons, with shells at a specific proximity to a target where each fragment is like a cluster bomb... but the shotgun description is so ingrained that I don't think we'll ever see a proper LBX. But if you ever wonder why LBX has superior range in all fluff... this was why, it was between this and an on board targeting system that controlled when the shell would detonate by programming a timer just prior to firing).
UACs are great for burst damage. They also run pretty hot in large numbers. The amount of screen shake they can cause for multi-shot versions and fast shooters (like the UAC/2) is quite disorienting and has the side effect of making the enemy crosshair move with the screen shake...this can throw off their aim if pelted heavily enough.
Regular ACs are better suited as the middle ground. More reliable than UACs due to their cooler nature, more focused than LBX. Try pairing an AC/5 with an LBX-10 or some PPCs... Fun results are bound to ensue.
RACs... are like the low heat versions of UACs. The bullets individually are significantly weaker but they eventually surpass UACs 2 and 5 in damage dealt over a period of time, able to nearly rival 10s. The amount of shake, smoke and flash that they create can really agitate players to the point of making mistakes which is where this weapon really shines.
On a long standing build using an LBX-10, AC/2, 3 ML and 2 Streak SRM-2s, after the skill tree change the AC/2 was unplayable. The UAC/2 even worse and the LBX-2 impossible to fit. But the RAC/2 managed to replace the AC/2 in the role of low heat peppering... and it works phenomenally. That mech in play back in the day to show the role the AC/2 played in it that the RAC/2 has now replaced. And also how nearly timeless the build has been. Through the many Highlander nerfs and all the weapon changes and rebalancing. Just don't rush laser vomit builds head on, rush them from the side and always rush enemies one at a time unless you got a bunch of people following you.
