Ok keep it respectful but questions for Russ and company here if they have a production update in the next few weeks.

1. Next step for map development.
2. What is the plan for IS Omni-mechs? (Any rules change for locked items like XL engines just on them? Plan at all?)
3. What is the plan for the balance of lasers in general not just Clan nerfs? Other options besides Ghost Heat? Energy draw?

  • Is the engine swap to UE still on the table (if it ever was more than a random thought that was never going to materialise anyway)?
  • What needs to happen to convince PGI that swapping the engine is a good move in the long run, even if the investment is significant?
  • Any further maps in development?
  • Solaris roadmap regarding division changes / balance, 3v3, FFA?

Has there been any indication that Russ et all will be doing a townhall/production update? Before Solaris, during the March production update, Russ seemed to suggest that they wouldn’t be doing much of anything other than tweaking solaris for at least a few months and then at some point in the future would be revisiting CW and perhaps doing something there development-wise. But that last part was mentioned in passing and not revisited. Russ was recently on the forums as well, and when I tried to press him just a bit on this he demurred. The point being: I don’t think there is much to discuss for a May townhall. It would be Russ (or Chris or whomever) defending various additions or actions:
- defending Solaris despite the lack of consistent playing population,
- defending Solaris City despite all the glitches,
- defending PSR and match making despite its effective absence,
- defending game performance despite the derth of mass discos,
- defending QP balance despite folks running the same MK-IIs, Annis, and Piranhas over and over,
- defending the armor changes to the Cicada and others, etc.

By their own assertions of late there really isn’t any development to discuss and I don’t think they are willing to engage the customer base directly regarding any of the above.

Anyway, if they did do such a townhall or whatever this month my questions are the same as they always are:

- If increasing TTK is still the top goal of “balance” as asserted by Paul, why do we still have strikes?

- What is in store for FP and when will it arrive. To that end, are you planning on doing anything to actually make the mode attractive to a wider cross-section of players such as perhaps by increasing rewards? If not, why?

- For over a year now you Paul and Chris have made numerous comments regarding balance and how it is viewed by the development team. For example, Paul stated that PGI “does not make big changes” regarding balance. While you and Chris have both stated that “balance is as good as it has ever been” and that changes made to the game are based on you “listening to the community”; and Paul implied that changes to the game are instituted based on “overwhelming community support”. With that in mind can you let us know which, if any, past or upcoming nerfs fit into all of these categories? Because as far as I can tell, NONE of the those that have been instituted in the last 12 months fit into any of these criteria let alone all of them and I would like to better understand your thinking here.

Can everyone at the company stay sober for 3 months (1 quarter) of the year?

Careful, I made a thread pointing out how insulting it was to again have a shitfaced Russ ask us to 'trust him' about development and it was flagged as abusive towards staff...yes, asking the guy steering the ship to be sober is unkind.

Will we ever see any game modes or queue buckets with more objective based gameplay, like Invasion and Conquest in Faction Warfare, but in a more Quickplay format so you are not required to be part of a unit and be really good to enjoy that kind of gameplay?
For clarification I specifically mentioned Conquest in Faction Warfare since the objectives matter there unlike in Quickplay where Conquest mostly plays like Skirmish.

I've not read the thread, but attitude does matter. Politely asking for the people on the team to be sober during the event is not the same as throwing out insults while asking.

Thing about those was that, from my perspective, there never was a really interesting (means difficult) question answered.
Usually it devolved into a "which mech next", a few balance things and more a roadmap like idea.
I'd rather have a roadmap which lays out a long(ish) term plan for MWO, instead some pre approved easy questions.

Still

Any interest in an engine swap (hope of better performance for more players, faster map making, maybe better looks)?

Map making; is it slow because resources are allocated to MW5?
Will the team working on MW5 return to bolster MWO dev resources?

Any chance of getting map voting thrown out and making it random again?

Definatly
That being said lots of people tried politely, since it didn't have an effect people are being snarky about it.

1. Why is the goal to balance lasers based off the alpha strike, and not based off of all the other aspects of the weapons combined?
2. Why is it so hard to make a 3D model based off the art actually look like the art?
3. When do the Clans get some variety to their weapons? (IS effectively doubled their variety, Clans got bad versions of ATMs and some lasers)
4. When do we get to choose cockpit and gyro sizes? (it's not that hard to balance them, trust me)
5. Any plans to add voicepacks?
6. Any plans to improve the Clan ACs? (not the ultras, the regulars)
7. UE4 anytime soon?
8. Linux client anytime ever?

Well you should attach if PGI is going to make the objectives worth not just playing team deathmatch

Conquest is part of quickplay ya know, not that it's good going too much for the objective in conquest

That's why I specifically mentioned Faction Warfare Conquest and not Quickplay Conquest even if it is currently the best QP objective mode. But then PGI make the same misunderstandings.

I have a simple question, that would likely have a complicated answer...

"At what point will PGI abandon the TT rules that govern Crit space and tonnage of the weapons / equipment?"

I wonder this, as things like the IS LB/2/5/20 are all overly punished in MWO by taking extra crits over their normal AC counter parts for an ability that they lack in MWO when compared to their TT counterparts, ammo switching. The ability to change firing modes on the fly in TT is what justified the 11 crit requirement for the ISLB-20X, how ever with crit-splitting (as an example LA+LT) would restrict the weapon's firing arc to the most restrictive, in the example I gave the LT rather than the LA. Crit splitting also allowed for things like dual HGR mechs with LFE engines, or HGR mechs and isXL engines... and that is with out even getting into mech mounted artillery weapons....

Now before someone starts to foam at the mount with how 11 crits is lore for the ISLB-20X, crit spaces are not lore, it is an abstract rule for TT to make sense and TT balance, rules are not the same thing as lore. Lore would be the 185mm Chemjet AC/20's on the Demolisher tank that use a two stage propellant... or the Pontiac 100 on the Victor that fires 100 40mm rounds in a burst.

After spending hundreds of $$$$$ on mechs, paint, MCs, and premium time and sticking with the game over the past 5 years through its ups and downs (mostly downs), I honestly don't care at this point. The game is about to sunset after MW5 goes live anyway.

town halls are a waste of time

they take way too long for way too little information

I agree all we need is a 3 month roadmap
