Got battletech, dug up my old MWO account, grinded for a couple weeks to get a pretty sweet clan drop deck, joined a unit, my goal was faction play either solo or with my unit.

I did one match in faction play, had a lot of fun, really enjoyed it, 8 kills, 2.5K+ damage, I want to play faction matches because QP matches are over too quick.

Whats up with the queue for faction play though? Do people play this? Cannot find a match at all besides that first one I was in.

Did I just grind two weeks to play a dead game mode?

Jump on TS and join a group for faster drops. Groups get priority in queue.

Assuming you are playing at the moment, you're in the peak time.

What is likely happening is you are being 'bumped' in queue by teams/groups. This is an issue in peak time when dropping solo and say a 10-man comes along. It will bump the solos the queue and only pick up 2 out of maybe 8 (or a 2-man group)... Or even 12-mans. So you could spend easily 30-40mins searching as a solo if there are a bunch of groups out.

Best way to avoid it? Get yourself into a group. FP is group mode after all.

Make friends with ASH, utilize his vast network of FW friends, never lose a FW match again.
