(While unrelated to MWO, if anyone was ever curious as to why LBX "Shotguns" have always had superior range to ACs... the answer is found in TRO 2750 where the LBX is first introduced. It is not described as a shotgun, it is described as a cannon with flak-like projectiles.)

Effectively, in a single paragraph a combination of a flak-like cluster-bomb shell that fragments "after firing" (but when it fragments isn't specified) and a specific targeting system specifically for the gun.. it describes this modern day projectile.


It is worth noting that unlike this projectile, the fragments will detonate as they are small cluster bombs with the same collective umph as small missiles. I know that doesn't mean much given how MWO's missile work, but given how Battletech's missiles work in relation to the lore and fluff of all other weapon systems... that's a terrifying prospect.
