In the short term, about the same will happen as with HBS BattleTech -- people will flock to play the MW5 single player campaign. A lot of them will come back soon, as well as some totally new people who want to try PvP mechwarrior. MWO will keep on trucking, but looks increasingly dated.

Long term, MWO will get a "2.0" upgrade using MW5's engine. The game will suddenly feel good to go for several more years.

Numerous 'mechpacks follow, including all the remaining unseen after HG has been buried in court.

In the meantime, HBS publishes several wildly successful sequels to their Battletech game, and Catalyst sells their new boxed sets like hotcakes.

what worries me was there not that much of a buzz about MW5 after all those people tried it at Mechcon

not many bad reviews not many good reviews

it seemed a bit worrying to me

I would guess the team making MW5 would gain experience enough to port the rest from MWO over as well
If they want to call that MWO 2, or MWO next or keep the MWO Solaris 7, doesn't really matter.

Still that's anyone's guess.
We basically know nothing about what comes after MW5, hell we don't even know what happens later this year when it comes to dev time/features.

Yeah, but when was the last time you saw a MWO ad somewhere?
They don't spent money on those things so I'd wager they are not having a constant media coverage either.

If MW5 is actually good it will do fine.
BT is doing very well according to Harebrained and that is more a niche game (with its TT based rules, turn based so on) then a MW5 would be
