title kinda says it all.. But lore wise, isn't Solaris ruled by IS? I am asking a lore Q

Yuppers, indeed the city has massive Inner Sphere flavour from each of the major House States. With the introduction of the Clans into the Inner Sphere, they eventually had a presence in city, but nothing like that of the House governments. Something PGI didn't even skim was the heavy House affiliations and politics involved in the Solaris VII matches and the city environments of the new map. Solaris City itself is subdivided into sectors, such as Liao, Kurita, Steiner, etc. Matches on the planet were as much a showcase for the MechWarrior sponsor Stables and corporate sponsors as they were for the national House pride for the birthplace of the MechWarriors competing.

I am rather disappointed in the new Solaris map, given that you can't really tell one section of the city from the other, based on the business signage present, randomly placed and reused throughout. By rights it should be a heavy influence. Imagine if the city were subdivided in a noticeable way by store placement and signage throughout the city. Instead of calling for help in 'Fox 8', we'd be calling for help in the Davion sector by the Pharaoh Beer billboard.
