-100% external heat transfer doesn't mean what I think it does, does it? Posted Image

Someone explain to me why the Night Gyr needs quirks?

The ebon jaguar has zero quirks, and it's one of the best clan heavies in the game.

I think it means the surrounding envorinment (a.k.a. map temperature) has no effect on the heat mechanics of the mech.

Remember that it's likely most to all quirks are tied to full omnipod sets. They were on the Viper, which really only had two useful variants with stock pod sets.

I'm a bit sad we won't get the visual effects of laser heat sinks, but I am DEFINATELY glad that they have the quirks to reflect it. This has decided for me, I'm willing to degrade myself and spend the money to grab the Night Gyr. RIP my integrity.

Should work the same as it does on the Hellslinger.

This is correct. Previously only the Hellslinger had this at -50%. You were worse on in cold maps and better off in hot ones. Ultimately, it was more of a negative than a positive, since there are more cold than hot maps and they are on average colder than the hot maps are hot.

This just seems like a +100% heat debuff to play basically, since cold maps are hugely popular

If it didn't have quirks, we'd have thirty posts in General along the lines of, "That's it PGI, I'm cancelling my..."

So finally the wallets do balance in this game now... "we nerf it when it's out for C-Bills, promise!"

I'm surprised nobody else has said this, but we don't know how much of these quirks are coming from the 8/8 omnipod bonus and how many of them are attached to the center torso.

So let's not jump to conclusions, yes the quirks are rather good considering how strong the mech is, but most builds will want to mix & match omnipods which will undoubtedly remove most, if not all of the quirks (although probably not the -100% heat transfer one).

Probably this.

Expect nerfs after it has been released for C-Bills.

I'm guessing it is CT related. If it is CT, then I'll just pick the 10% ballistic CD and spam dakka.

Shame the only one with the ERPPC velocity quirks is the Hero.... Then again I doubt I'd actually end up running ERPPcs as a serious build.

A -100% environmental impact quirk is only minor positive in a tiny number of quickplay maps, and a huge negative in the significantly more common cold maps. The only place this is realistically a positive quirk is in CW where you can be sure it will only come into play when it will be that small positive.

This is not a positive quirk people. If you really think some energy range will make this mech broken I can understand that, but it's already nerfed right now with this environment quirk, not "when it comes out for C-bills."

I don't need emergency money anyways...

ALSO, I just noticed that the D has no missile quirks. The mech that is stock LRM 80 has laser quirks. Wut.

Agreed. I'll just pick Tourmaline more often.

Do flamers count as an external or environmental effect? If so, it might be immune to flamers.

I think it's reasonable to expect hot maps to be a lot more popular in the week after release, since everyone will be driving these things like usual. After that though, I highly doubt anyone will vote for polar highlands or frozen city any less than now, and having almost 4 less equivalent DHS of dissipation than you normally should, and being the only one out of 24 mechs with this problem, is going to be seen as a clear disadvantage.
