I had a 3 day winning streak with some crazy scores, and now Im convinced the matchmaker is punishing me for my success. Ive lost almost every game in the past 48 hours despite consistently doing 500 damage and scoring 1-3 kills. I also fight from the front and contribute a large amount of armor to the team damage soak. My teammates consistently do around 200 damage and stand around in cover dying one at a time like a bunch of frightened women and children.

What superstitious things do you all believe help with losing streaks, or should I just leave MWO alone for a couple weeks?

Step one: stop fighting from the front. If your team wants to be useless then make them useful as meatshields so you can carry them to victory kicking and screaming. If they won't use their weaponry, force them to use their armor.

Bring a giant pink LRMboat, 4 small pulse lasers. Brawl with the lights that are summoned by the blue rainbow. Hey you can get huge numbers to make yourself feel better and some wins, or you can die horribly because you brought a bad build to a brawl map. Gotta be pink, shows you are not taking yourself seriously. Mine has flames to boot. I call it the “The carnival of carnage.”

Right now, about 6 threads up from this one in General Discussion, there's someone asking, "Why not use W/L instead of PSR?"

This is why.

I don't believe in losing streaks. Cause I always stop after losing 3 times in a row. ;)

If tryharding isn't working, trytrolling always breaks the trend of having less than ideal fun.

Bring your 4 flamer, 4 mg mech out for a run - or that spider with tags and stealth armor and lay down the disco party from the highest point on the map you can get to.

Or just work on putting enemies in a place that the rest of the team will be incentivized to be the heroes.

2 day losing streak. Ha that is nothing. I had something like a 2 month losing streak, well at least a 2 month losing streak where I seriously was only winning like 20% of my matches played. That was right around the time I moved up from Tier 2 to Tier 1 and I was almost convinced that the game was intentionally putting total potatoes on my team with the expectation that I would be able to carry them with my Tier 1 godhood (LoL). Seriously though it was so bad I almost quit the game for good because I just stopped having any semblance of fun. luckily things got back to normal eventually before I quit.

I am experiencing the same. I had win/loose streaks for weeks on end. I could even predict the outcome of the match beforehand by the behaviour of the team/enemy. At times I was convinced I was hooked up with tier 5 teammates. Now as I am about to enter tier 1 all seems to normalize; good, well balanced, tight fights. Fun.

At times matches are incredibly weird. Sometimes it all goes to crap, my team getting knock down like bowling pins in first 5 minutes or so for several matches in a row, then I take a break, do other stuff, and when I get back, I get matches where I barely can keep up with team killing stuff, like you expect to play more carefully moving by cover, advancing grouped, but no, folks just jump in Rambo-style and put down 2-3 enemy mechs in 1 volley consistently... It's hard to understand what's going on sometimes, but it is always quite hilarious.

Hey OP, that is what "other games" are for !! The only problem with other games is that they are more fun...... Good luck and remember, in MWO W/L = GuD. If you believe that, the other games route for a couple of months works really well or, just play events !!! Then losing 80% of your matches isn't so bad. Came in, played some matches, saw some friends, got some free stuff and then left........perfect !

Superstitious?
Hmm...
So no actual common sense stuff like saying "screw it" and then sync dropping with a friend or six in GQ all in Gauss-Vomit MK-IIs or HGR Cyclops builds and using whatever else you have for a team as a meat shield, like I see certain units consistently do? Or just saying -again- "screw it" and dropping in an Piranha and running around the perimeter of the map until you count to about 150 and then come rushing in to "secure kills", like I see many folks do? Or you could try my own personal solution and say "screw it" and drop in a dual AC10 IV-4 because who cares if you keep losing if you can blast away with AC10s about every 2.5 seconds (with skills tree plus quirks); at least you'll feel better.

But superstitious? Man, I guess I got nothin...unless you count pouring a drink and praying to mechageezus for a win? Sometimes that seems to help.

I had this strange thought at some point, what if you could make groups, that we can do now, but with a description people could read before joining.

Most of the bad stuff happening is in SQ due to a number of mentioned reasons, and the reason you don't just go group is usually because you don't have more then 1 or 2 reliable friends online at the point.

I'm not saying the people who will join will be good or a good fit, but I do believe that if given time some kind of consensus about the wording of those LFG's the expectations when joining will solidify, much like in MMO's when doing instance farming runs, a description of what is needed, a general skill level, mic and/or other things might make low investment playing, opposed to gathering unit members and friends at a specific time, easier and of higher quality improving general w/l ( from a pure random losing streak ) and thus improving playing experience, though even with that you might get farmed by a real unit team in GQ... don't play at the same time they do? x) .

I find if I get on a loosing streak 3-4 games, If I just take a five minute break and come back, usually It's fixed. I think maybe I get out of the battle play die click battle play die click cycle and come back during play cycle and end up in a new rotation and not stuck fighting the same peeps, and fighting with the same peeps and it changes the out come.
