Is there a tool for it?
I couldn't find this functionality in https://mwo.smurfy-net.de ...
I mean - I want to make a build and see what skill gives what (to see if i need additional ammo skill).

BTW - What does the reset skill (respec) button do? If you press it will you loss every skill point you put in it?

Yes in a manner of sorts you can see real time the changes to your mechs ammo and weapon stats real time without having to save them/ spend xp.

1. Select the desired skill points on the tree and don't hit save or apply.

2. Select tab "loadout" from the top left menu tabs in mechlab. This will bring you back to you mechs' loadout screen.

You can hover over the individual weapon components to see the changes to your weapons values you selected, as well as the ammo increase and armor/structure changes that would happen if you were to apply the choices you selected from the skill tree.

For example if you have gauss equipped with gauss rounds and add both the ammo+ nodes, when you hover over the gauss round it will show the amount to be 10 + 2 rounds. If you only had 1 node for ammo, it will show 10+1

If you select all the laser duration nodes for up to 10% Clan or 15% IS, it will show the shaved time off in the individual lasers stats when you hover over it.

Hope this helps.

To answer you question regarding the revert option -
If you already unlocked a node on the tree it no longer costs you sp to re-apply it.

Yes it will show the changes as well in the loadout screen mechlab.
On phone, but I or someone else could post a pic to show it.
Your armor values on each component are highlighted in white , and they will change depending on the percentage value you invest in for the armor nodes.
Simplified example
Say you select enough armor nodes to net a 10% armor increase. At max armor, each component will have a 10% HP increase. A right torso with 50 points of armor will now have 55. Note that armor bonuses scale down if you elect to subtract armor to use that weight to free up more weight for other things such as weapons or heatsink etc.

Structure values are also located within the individual components of the mech and are static, regardless of whether you strip off all the armor of an arm or leg, it will still have it's structure value. You will also see these values change and increase as you invest in the 'structure nodes.

Agreed.
Would also LOVE to have them color code skill point quirks that you have applied to the mech to differentiate from the ones alredy applied with the mech.

You can also see the changes to maneuverability, twist and pitch, etc. if you open up the menu on the bottom right and scroll down. I don't know what it is called but it is the menu where you can look at the quirks, see the hard point map, etc. The only issue is like with armor, there isn't anything that shows you the baseline number before you added the skill so you have to write it down or remember what it was before you started adding skills.
