Ah the hellbie. Good choice for a robot.
I have the fondest memories of my hellbie and i being the last surviving mech in my team, up against 7 remaining enemies.
Hellbie just said "watch this" and won it. I was just along for the ride.
Good times were had in that cockpit.

Hellbringer with 2 HLL and 4ErMed is awesome, still one of the best builds of the game if you pilot it properly IMHO. Just gotta watch that heat, use Shutdown Override when necessary, ride that red line during those critical moments. Welcome to the war, soldier.

It's hard to find good help these days...

See, you say that in a nice way, but what a high tier Lurmer like myself reads is "If you wanna play faction, I'm gonna tell you what mech and build to bring, and it's not gonna have LRMs on it"..
My last unit split and broke up cose' of that.. so.. yeah..
I don't roll that way really

But thanks.
No one will tell you what to bring but ok.

Welcome aboard, Dammonar.
Best advice I can give a newbie beyond what has been stated is to wait for sales. PGI is a very generous company when it comes to free loot and sales compared to Wargaming. If you show some patience in the early going, you'll find yourself with a good assortment of assets, from colours to decals to Mech Bays and free Mechs.
I run a test account to see what I'll accumulate without spending a dime on the game, simply by playing events and taking advantage of sales. Since December, that account has accumulated eleven Mechs. Many of those are freebies [Uziel, Sunspider, Roughneck and Nova as giveaways or event Mechs, and three Blood Asps I won in an NGNG draw]. I've been able to purchase an Assassin, Hellbringer, Orion IIC and Rifleman through normal means while on sale.
As you have already noticed, without the one to ten tier system, Assault Mechs are easily attainable in the game, unlike tier X tanks in WoT, which can take up to a year to unlock.
Glad you are having a blast. Introduce MW: O to your WoT friends. Perhaps they'll enjoy this environment just as much as you have.
Happy to have you!

Welcome, friend!
I've also fled recently from that dumpsterfire that WoT became, and I can guarantee you that MWO, with all its flaws is a much better game.
My advice is to try many mechs before setting on one, as sometimes the weirdest builds click.
