I mean, I know literally what it means, but I am trying to remove inactive players to save ourselves some C-Blll in inviting cost.

But like 60% of the members are just listed as "Offline" with no last activity date listed. And I am 90% sure those most of those haven't played in like months, but I don't know for sure since they are not listed with any activity date.

Is there a way to know? Or does it represent something? Is there a way to refresh it so that date is attached?

Pretty sure offline means that they haven't been online since the system was introduced, i.e. more than a year. You should be good to remove them.

Same goes with friends lists. The ones I know have never logged in since then are all offline. If you have a clan website/discord or whatever hub, you can just post you are cleaning the roster and anyone removed by mistake should just message you (just for your peace of mind).

So update, I end up just researching in Jarl's list. If they only played 5 games per season, I guess it won't register. But... if they only play 5 games a season, that's not really "active" anyways, right?

(unless they play only faction... eesh...)

True, but that is Jarls list that is pulling from the website, and a player to be populated on it needs to have played 10 games/month. But the roster/friend's list activity is simply from logging into the client itself, to show the last time someone logged in.

I could not tell you what Offline means now. One player I have on my list said offline but Jarls list shows he played last month. So Offline could mean anything. I have players on my list that shows > 1 YR.

A surprisingly fact I found, and could be something interesting for player base study...

So because I played with 10-20 regulars, from a list of 89 to start with, I thought I would be able to get rid of 40-50 easy.

But, as I go through the list, I realized, our "inactive" is a lot less than I thought. Just drawing correlation because our unit is not hardcore comp team, but more resemble the general population of MWO (older, have jobs, etc etc), I can see that there are at least 40-50 players that played within the last month. It's just that they are not "regulars" per se, and I don't recognize them. But they are in my unit, and login from time to time.

We can call those the "hidden" population of MWO. So like on Jarl's list, if we further narrow down player list that played 100 games a month (3 games a day), we may narrow down the list from 30,000 to maybe... less than 10,000. And those 20,000+ players are the "hidden" players per se. They login regularly, don't play that much, but maintain somewhat of a standing with the game.

Now, what does that mean and what can we do with this information?

Well, we can assume that if 60%+ of player population are those type of players, those players are probably f2p and not paying money regularly. So that means, the profit potential of PGI is not maxed. What they need to figure out, is how to convert more f2p hidden players to regular spenders.

From player perspective, we can increase the amount of concurrent players. From PGI perspective, more revenue for same server resources.
