It feels like we're back in the old days before the clans! Well almost. Still see the occasional clan mech. It's also very strange to see so many Awesomes. Even before the Clans seeing an Awesome was uncommon.

Unfortunately PGI can't please everyone. There are thread/posts whining about the event already.

It's okay once people figure out they can buy a mech, get 500 damage with it and sell it back

It was painful at times in the one Locust I have from the Phoenix pack, and the Rifleman is just not good for much, but I did drive a Commando for the first time and my Awesome 9M scored an amazing 7 kill game with a 4v1 at the end. It was group queue as well so no excuses I hope they do more events like this, I also hope they change the God damned trial 'Mechs so I don't have to go flipping crap chassis like that Rifleman.

Cicada was the horrible one for me. I did alright in the locus and I was doing around 100-200 per game in the trial commando. I bought a rifleman, put in a 280xl a bunch of SHS and laservomit (2xLL + 4x ML) and just played it that way for 3 games until I got 500 damage then sold it back. I think I kept the LL though, I was short on those.

You buying mechs that you don't have with 50% discount, fail couple games with them to just do 500 dmg (empty skill tree+non optimal engine, pilot who can't play fast lights/medium etc), sell it, congrats you get MC. Also some mechs from challenge presented as trial ones so you lower your games quality even more with your presence.

I didn't do the Medium category, but I can imagine how difficult the Cicada was considering how many of them I saw melted into heaps of slag. I put an AC20 and 2 PPCs on my Rifleman, forgetting that I hadn't bothered to change any of its other loadout... Like switching to double heat sinks. Whoops! Ugh, it's one of my least favourite 'Mechs.

Not complaining but, some of those mech Chassis im not interested in. So not going to buy them. So there for, can't do some of these missions. But I do own most of them so its not that bad.

This event has encouraged trying/"renting" a bunch of lesser used 'Mechs (also trying to make rentals work stock or with only off-shelf parts to save money). I think I'll keep the Blackjack BJ-1 and the event also sold me on getting a *good* Locust.

It's a bit of fun for 50% off a mechbay per class, I like the premise and business as usual has been shaken up by the proliferation of lighter 'Mechs. Encouraging players to change up their 'Mechs was a pretty good idea imo, some games were brutal but on the whole it's been a good time.

Thats probably one of the worst possible Loadouts you can put on a Rifleman...

Unfortunately it hasn't lasted long enough, now the try-hards have grinded out their rewards they've switched back to their clan meta. I'm seeing Streak-dogs every second match, gotta pad their K:D swatting unskilled, under armoured locusts....

just run mechs i already have. i made a point even with all the selling of mechs i did prior to skill tree to keep one of each for chassis representation. usually the one with the most ballistic points. needless to say just play the game with a bunch of mechs i dont usually run and get free stuff. easy peasy.

Enjoying it too gret deal. Haven't seen those kinds of **** shows in a long while, also feels like hucking IS civil war going on or something.

However, TTK got serious bite. Many people seem to run either unskilled mechs or are just rusty, and overall combat and kills feels like everyone has a wet paper armor. Folks die SO-DAMN-FAST, it's almost doesn't look like those are BT mechs at all...

If you buy them for 50% off (they're on sale), you can sell them for the same price. You probably don't want to add DHS or other upgrades but you can still make cool builds work.

It is indeed. I only wanted 80 damage so I may have trolled that game. The Jagermech will always be my Rifleman.

I agree. I have not played my IS mech is a long while. Now that I have been playing them for the event, I find them to more fun than playing Clan mechs.
