how is it that i can have 1 kill 4 assists and 178 damage and have my psr stay even and then do 2 kills 5 assists and 208 damage and lose psr?

PSR is based on match score, so you might have gotten points from things other than kills, assists, or damage.

Moltenmetal aka baradul has an excellent video on utube about how to farm cbills, it will mention many of the ways you can raise your match score. Or you can read on if the many threads here to learn more about how it works. On a loss I believe you need a 400 to gain and a 250 to stay even. Damage and kills are a large part, but not the entirety. You can gain a large amount by staying with your lance the whole match, or at least your team. You can also raise it significantly by equipping AMS, as you get matchscore for every missle shot down.

The long and short (using fuzzy logic instead of numbers) is:
If you win, and you did the best, you gain a massive amount of rank.
If you win, but you only did okay, you'll gain a moderate amount of rank.
If you win, but you're the worst on your team, you won't gain rank.
If you lose, but you're the best on your team you'll gain a small amount of rank.
If you lose, but you're one of the best on your team you won't lose rank.
If you lose, and you didn't do great at all, you lose a moderate amount of rank.


It's designed in such a way that damage matters infinitely more than actually securing kills, because that means contributing more to the team even if it's superfluous, and designed in such a way that you typically gain more rank than you lose almost no matter what.

PSR gain/loss is determined by match score, not damage. Incidentally, you lose MASSIVE amount of matchscore if you dealt moderate friendly fire damage. So could be due to FF.

So stop grinding each other in the drop zone people, it’s keeping you out of tier one!
