Hello all,

I played MWO a very long time ago at the start of open beta. I only stuck around for maybe two months, then got distracted with other things. I am currently downloading the game again. I only had a few mechs and a little bit of money, and I was wondering if there are currently any new player bonuses I would be missing out on if I started to used my old account instead of creating a fresh one. If anyone has any insight into which way I should go I would appreciate it.

Nope. You should still get the first 25 matches bonus pay, and you can still hop inna the academy to milk it for cbills.

You'll still get your bonuses. If you update the Terms of Service there's also a free Nova. PGI rushing to become compliant with European law about having the ability to refuse to have your personal information stored. (May wanna read it if this concerns you, though for the most part its about your account creation info, mechs, pattern/colors/decal choices 'aka your artwork', etc.).

The MechWarrior Academy rewards you for completing it. Gets you a nice chunk of change. Plus you can do a few different challenges if you feel like improving on your accuracy and other stuff. If you never did it on your old account, you can still get it now.

Other than that you can do the Events to get extra c-bills.

Yeah just keep your old account if you played back that far ago theres no real difference. Get your free nova, maybe hock it to get a foot hold into the current event if your into inner sphere mechs you can take advantage of that to get a little bit of free MC and maybe keep some of the on-sale mechs. Just note that they are all old tech IS mechs and require a fortune to make functional in any real fight. (Though if you like clan mechs go ahead and hold onto the nova, clan techs expensive but after the geometry resizing the nova is actually quite nice compared to when it first came out.)

If you have an assault I would say take that out for a spin first to take advantage of 'dad mechwarrior online' event and get a nice warhorn cockpit item, one of the better ones IMO and just takes ten assault assists to get.

I was in the same boat half a year ago. A lot of things have changed, but the forums will give you some good advice to help you get back into the game. All the stuff mentioned above is what I did, too, and it helped me a lot.
