Oh good grief...... How about laser spam? How about meta? How about MG's? Too much of anything isn't a good thing but LRM's are the least of the meat/op issues..... Find AMS, Find Radar Dep. Find cover. geeze.

Well, you know what? For me, LRMing is the most fun in the whole game..

Brawling, gauss/ppc spam, and SRM rushing however, are not fun for me..

Being stomped by large comp units straight out of Faction play, is not fun for me either.

But hey.. That's the state of the game..

Something that always makes me laugh is that LRMs are considered to be the worst weapon in the game. So much so that people get bullied left and right for using them. And yet, people think they are OP.

Make up your damn minds already!

So guess what.. If you don't like LRMs.. don't play them. If you get killed by LRMs alot.. well than I guess you have a bigger problem..

But regardless of what you do and how much you whine, troll or put lurmers down, LRMs are here to stay, and people like me will keep using them - to our satisfaction - against people like you.

See you on the other side of a lock-on.

I used to complain about LRMs but haven't been bothered by them since I came back. Either I'm in a fast mech and can break LOS into cover, or if I'm in a battle line mech I'll run to my teammates who invariably are packing tons of AMS. I don't need AMS, let the other dudes shoot that crap down.

(I do have an AMS boat so I don't just leech but haven't run that particular mech in a while)

Only thing I find annoying is light/fast mechs with laser or SRM spam. I don't mind getting swarmed by a light mech now and again but damn, put some variety into your build not 6-7 of the same weapon and only tactic you have is to shoot at my legs. Boring as all hell

I wouldn't call LRMs the worst weapon in the game.

Just an Anti-Fun weapon.

ballistics and lazors should be able to hit/destroy missiles so my 12 MG piranha can shoot down those missiles

The recent patches made ECM mechs 300% more valuable and reduced others to 25%. LRMs are just tooooo cool to shoot. I can spam LRM80 nonstop in an assault and on top 2 large lasers. Try that with any other big weapon.

Go for more ammo explosion chance and add huge chance for PPCs to trigger it. Fix two crappy weapons with a single strike !

Umm....

Seems like a case of 73.5% of all percentile based facts are made up on the spot.


I will assume the LRM80 + large laser mech is a supernova (because an inner sphere mech with that build would be hot garbage)

So a Supernova A with LRM80 and 2 large pulse lasers a TAG and a CAP as well as 10 tons of LRM ammo (325XL endo steel and capped armor) would have a heat efficiency of 26% when built with Smurfy.

So not a cool running mech by any measure.

Trying to build a similar mech with I.S. tech would lead me to use the Hero Annihilator Meanbaby chassis.

and that mech is as I stated "hot garbage" when using the LRM80 and 2 large laser build.

Assuming the loadout includes 4 x LRM 20 2 X large lasers 10 tons ammo BAP and TAG utilizing a 300LFE we would have only 7 tons remaining for armor and additional heatsinks.So between 22 to 29% heat efficency and no armor to speak of on a slow 100 ton target.


And going for "more ammo explosion" is a lopsided fix that heavily favors clantech with it's free CASE on all mechs.

An ammo explosion that would be lethal to an I.S. would only be damaging to a clan mech.

Unless you feel it's a good idea to further the weight gap between clan and I.S. lurmboating?

Clan has half tonnage launcher
lighter probes and the light active probe
Light TAG
and more compact launchers

adding another I.S. "tonnage tax" will just favor the clans and not by a small amount.

You can get that with non-Artemis LRM80, 9 tons of ammo, 2 ERLL, XL300, no ferro or endo, 10 armor off the head and each leg, and fit in 10 external DHS with a TAG and CAP. The people that call LRMs terrible weapons and the people that think they are OP are not the same people. How exactly do you expect people from the first group to magically change the opinion of people in the second group? LRMs are bad weapons. They are also anti-fun weapons, because in the few situations in which they do perform well, it's because they're dominating people who don't understand how to respond or can't get the team to respond with them. Unfortunately, without a change in mechanics to limit their anti-fun ability, they won't receive the kinds of buffs they really do need in order to make them viable in a less feast-or-famine manner.
