Try a Shoden Assault vehicle shooting SRM-6's and ATM-9's with close range payloads. That'll ruin your day in a jiffy.

SRM Carriers are great - when you don't need them.
When you don't play double blind - they are acceptable to reduce enemy movement.
- whats this?
SRM Carrier 60 SRMs!
Oh - well lets look for another way.

They are awesome as hidden unit.

However they are the worst possible body guard.
Had 3 of them protecting my LRM carriers.... well defended area - (clearing in a wood - only short range LOS)
and my scouts were painting targets with TAG and calling the semi active LRMs (i thought that its secure because nobody will attack 3 SRM carriers...

well my friend - didn't had any choice - attack and maybe get annihilated by SRM or do nothing and die by LRMs.
He used a Viper and a Stooping Hawk. Destroying the SRM carriers in one round - with less damage.

I prefer the light SRM-Carrier over the normal version.
+ slightly better armor
+ turret
+ faster
- only five SRM-6, but they are all in the turret

To say that an old-tech tank is useless, because it lost to advanced tech mechs? One of those mechs has a higher Battlevalue then all three SRM-Carriers combined. Of course the tanks where scrapped. Now repeat that game with 3025 tech only on both sides and see how good a bodyguard those tanks can be.

Also a clearing in the woods isn't a safe place for tanks. You have to cover for all directions. If you want to use indirect fire, park your LRM-tanks behind hills and buildings with only one or two access ways. Your SRM carriers will have a much better chance to defend that.

No not useless - only not so scarry when your opponent is forced to attack them. In 3025 they are great - best way to deal with them would be a assassin or a spider - maybe a Clint or a Phoenix Hawk could work to - something that causes a high to hit modifer.

In that game - they were not a battle winning factor - there only reason was distraction. But maybe more LRM carriers would have been the better choice - or those JES II strategic missile carriers :) six of them have the same fire power as 2 SRM carriers.

Only problem when playing Total Warfare is that the choice of units wins the day - hardly the tactics you deploy.
