I'm looking to buy a new Hero mech, ideally a medium or lower-end heavy. Any suggestions for a rarely seen-in-the-wild mech that's pretty tanky?

Quickdraw IV-4 with dual mrms 30s and an lfe 285 and a jumpjet.

It has very high agility stats and durability quirks combined with jumping. Extremly tanky

Darkdeath
Sparky
Gray Death
Fang
Flame

As far as rarely seen tanky heroes goes. Imo they're all decent to solid, but not competitive if that's one of your requirements.

I was going to suggest a Florentine because I find my Crab to be incredibly tanky with max XL engine and I find enemy crabs to be about as hard to kill as I feel when I'm in mine. But those hardpoints on the Florentine... ick... I can't figure out what to do with it. Uh, my Roughneck also feels pretty tanky and its hero has hardpoints I at least feel like I can work with. It's 65 tons so I feel like it's a lower end heavy. So how about a Reaver? If all else fails you could always go with the tried and true Yen-Lo-Wang with an AC/20 and two medium lasers. They're pretty dangerous and for some reason I just don't see them that often.

Quarantine (Wolverine) has a good armor boost, excellent maneuverability, and has a completely empty left side for dead-siding.

It's a bit lacking in brute firepower compared to a clan mech (1 B 3 E 2 M), but is fun to play and durable.

A Redline Linebacker , those have massive armor quirks on the CT and have heavy armor quirked omnipods with 1 hardpoint on every location if you chose to build that way, or mix to have an armored side and a gun side as there are side torsos and arms with multiple hardpoints.

Was there a requirement it's an IS mech?

Hunchbacks and linebackers are really tanky. So gridiron or redline I'd say.

Lol. 5 energy- 2LT, 3RT, 1 B LA, 1 M RA. Has missile and ballistic Cooldown quirks. I suppose you could do something similar to the lbk B and go Gauss and 4 er ml without having to worry about gaussplosion, just that it's got gorilla arms. Better to just switch out the pods and go all energy. Oh before the spl nerf, 9 spl on the Recline kicked *** and made sense considering the name.

The Panther 10P can be surprisingly tanky, especially after picking up the Survival tree. Of course, it has basically nothing else going for it: it's a 35 ton mech with only two ballistic hardpoints in the right arm, and one missile hardpoint in the CT.

But, 24 base armor and 24 quirk armor on the arms is 48 armor, and because it's a light it can get 23% more (2.3%x10 nodes) for 59 armor. Other sections turn out similarly: 32+12+23% for 59 on each ST, 44+12+23% for 68 on the CT, 32+12+23% for 59 on each leg.

You won't be able to kill anything, but build it to go fast and for a 35t mech you'll be tanking for days.

Iv-4 for pure armor quirk tankiness. Jester (not very uncommon, too heavy?) is tanky via profile and agility, so too Sparky. My Breaker has been surprisingly tough. Florountine is pretty durable, but just awful. I really like the High Roller, started out face tanking with RACs as it can take a pounding. Lots of choices.

The Kintaro. It's the bulkiest medium mech in the game, with more armor quirks than the Bushwacker.

You can probably run the Florintine with a similar build to the yenlo wang but i havent tried. Im running two rac 5s on mine. It should alsp be pretty beastly with the MRM set up.

Bought the IV-FOUR a few days ago Fly and am really liking it quite a bit as an MRM boat (I saw a few people doing it and figured I would like it lol). Also got a LOUP DE GUERRE for you know what and giggles Posted Image which has been quite fun (SRM's obviously).

Here. I did a thing.

FLORENTINE

I know it doesn't look like much, but my Loyalty Griffin runs a very similar setup to surprisingly good effect: GRF-5M(L)

I actually think the Florentine might do it better. The Florentine has more speed, a smaller profile, and excellent hitboxes, and better heat efficiency at the measly sacrifice of two LMGs. I really love my Crab because it's just so tanky and quick, and I know now after running my Griffin with two snubs just how much damage a well utilized pair of snubs can actually do. And the Crab's tankiness and speed will make it fit that roll even better than my Griffin does, and my Griffin is pretty nice. If it wasn't going to cost me real money to do it, I might try a Florentine myself after coming up with this idea.
