the map was canyon/skirmish. We had the E3 spawn area typical stomp to the ramp with a couple guys down in the D3-C3 valley but they stayed low. With a lone cicada that was camped up near the C3 tower behind them.
I was in my light hunting treb, a big XL, streaks and a pair of ML's. Just a fun Pugger mech as anti light, scout support mech. So I noticed the other team is spread widely from the canyon in c4, some mechs were back near the C5 ridge and a couple of assaults down low in the D4-D5 area. Like i said all over the place.
Our main group was basically camping the ramp and kinda poking. I ran up to the d4-D5 area and called out the assaults, but people sorta camped so i was not helping at all in this spot, everything had me ranged when i noticed a few lights starting to creep around the c4-3 area so instead of trying to peak which would of got me killed i bailed and went after the lights near the guys in the C3 valley.
I got there rather quick around the time a PIR came rushing in and i was on it, he bailed but not before i got a few vollies off. this was great because i was smoking hot and i basically made it look like i was more scared of him and pretended to run off to the main group. Instead i JJ turned up to the c3 ridge and waiting for him to run back. He did just about the time i was cool and and after a short skirmish it was over for him. (major threat on our cicada down)
During this time things were going all sorts of wrong for the team and we were dropping fast. complaints were going around, stop hiding ect.. I think we were down by 4 mechs at this point. A shadow hawk popped in near me and i went back to work and he dropped as well. (cicada threat 2 down)
While this is happening the other team was stacking up more kills and the little cicada was taking pot shots and stacking up damage and took in a couple kills of his own. Ok, so the match wasn't going to be a stomp but things were not looking good. they had 7 mechs left but me and the cicada were pretty fresh and there was another guy from our lance left and the enemies started to trail in on us as we were the only ones left and our only move was to keep falling back.
We lost the other guy to some heavy that pushed down the ramp and into d4. My only move was fall back even further into the c2 valley as i noticed a Dire and king crab pushing across the C4 bridge.. the team did manage to take down 3 of their mechs and did a opened up a couple of the others including the King crab but still things didn't look good.
But the little cicada that could added a couple more kills as they pushed out in the open as they had so many guys on their side, how could 2 guys win right? Then a fairly fresh cent pushed in on me around the C3 corner so i again dropped back through the valley ditch using it as cover drawing him in even more.. The cicada added a little more damage and kept him locked as i pop tarted him with streaks and he popped. (cicada threat 3 down). Just after that the cicada popped yet another mech.. and then there were 3..
at this point i started to think we could pull this off. I JJ'd up to the ridge to rain some missiles down from above on the assaults but over jumped and landed on the edge but slipped off the ridge sliding down right in front of the fresh dire, Whoops.. I was able to get off a couple vollies but to little armor and not enough time to get around the corner and i dropped just as the Cicada took down another.
So now it was a king crab with the LT gone. (not sure if i took it out or not) and a fairly fresh dire with our lone cicada with dual ERPPC's.. At this point people on our team were starting to cheer him on. the grumbling of the early match had vanished and people on the other team that were dead started dropping. could this little cicada do the unthinkable and pull this off?
I had basically distracted the 2 assaults with my over jump and landing right in front of them giving the cicada time to get out of there and he bolted down to D3 taking pot shots on his way to the tracks. The crab couldn't hit him but the Dire was a pretty good shot and took off his arm and added some other damage.
They made their way up to the train tracks, but by this time the cicada was all the way off to e4 and had the dire ranged with only the crab and a couple of AC2's as a threat, but the cicada with his mad skillz took out is RT.. No more weapons. Now the crab was just a shield for a semi fresh dire.. More cheers from our side, and people were taking now about how fun the match turned out watching this guy slowly pick um off. One guy even said how he never stays till the end but could wait to see how this one turned out.
the 2 assaults kept heading towards e4 thinking he went all the way to the end and around but the cicada made a quick loop through the theta area and came up behind them on the tracks as they dropped down into e4. A few more well landed shots had opened up the dires CT to bright orange by this point and it was about over. As the dire peaked back around the corner with his crab spotter the cicada dropped him as he entered the valley. The dire did land another round turning him about as cherry as you can get with out being dead but it was not enough. All that was left was to avoid some collision damage and take down the crab which still had some decent CT armor. The timer was running out but he managed to get behind the crab and take him down at about the 2 min mark.
the matched ended with me and 3 key kills that could of ended the cicada's day and 7 assists. But the real hero was the Cicada 6 kills 5 assists +1k and giving us the win.. Was such a fun ride watching the cicada pilot play, man this guy was a crack shot with those ER's. And thanks to the team that slowed down the death ball enough and opened up enough armor to let this all happen.
Yea it was a pug match that went all sorts of wrong but sometimes all sorts of wrong can end in being so much fun! Made for a very memorable night to say the least.
