Is torso twisting in a stalker an effective technique?

Could it have been invented by the same person who invented the inner sphere XL engine? (One of Bill Gates direct descendants)

Perhaps there is a bright and exciting future for T-Rex boxing and stalker torso twisting... Maybe this is the major contribution game balance and *big new thing* people have been looking for in this game since it was first rolled out.

I feel like not exactly twisting, but more of facing the enemy and wiggling a little to spread damage between your small CT and gigantic STs.

dont XL in a STK. Also as above, but also once you do lose a torso, and you will, make use of the 60% dmg reduction on dmg transfer, so dead side as much as your CT will allow to at least tank for longer.

Well, you never heard this from me. Posted Image

While spectating yesterday I saw two different stalker pilots with side torsos intact torso twist 90° inbetween alphas to face their sides torwards enemies.

(Presumably to make it easier to shoot their side torsos off.)

I have to admit in years of playing this game, this is something I have never seen before. This is something *new*. And exciting. Not really exciting in a good way though. But still *new*.

And people say nothing new or exciting ever happens here...

It's just inefficient to turn the full amount to sink dmg in a STK (though it doesn't have 90 degree torso twist either) you only only need to turn a little to soread dmg to a side because of its long shape

I've played a lot of Stalker on my IS account. If the Stalker pilot was facing an enemy carrying a lot of spread damage weapons (MRM, LBX, SRMS), he was probably trying to soak some of the damage into his ears/arms. You can't catch much, but anything helps.

XL Stalker is fine when lurming. Can't fit enough firepower to punch through AMS otherwise.

Having played mostly with Stalkers I have a bit of experience.
They twist and turn like battleship on a rough sea.
You have to kinda anticipate the incoming fire.
Battlefield awareness is essential.
Start your twist before it it hits.
Thereby rolling your damage.
Hope that helps.
And no XL you'll get checked every time.

you can usually run max std engine and have a lot of space left over. lfe gives even more space, useful for when you want to cram both an mrm40 and a uac20 into your misery.

Dead side shielding on the stalker works fine with the right builds (on the Misery)

Doesn't matter much to a LRM boat.
