Id lile them to test this.

Remove charge mechanic
Doubble cooldown (or heck even 2.5x)
Optimal range 850m max range 1700m

Make it the sniper weapon it should be not a brawling one.

Agreed. If they removed the Charge Mechanic in exchange for recoil, it would've been fine imo but this **** just makes things extremely convoluted.

If they do this change my guess is the DS will have AC10's replace the gauss.. and it will be hotter due to no heat free damage gauss. Or! The DS will have 3erl 2 gauss but the extra 3 tons will go to a tc.. that ways its sniping only.

Nah it's just going to put the gauss shot at the end of the burn rather than the start. Recoil doesn't fix anything, it just makes it more annoying to use. The only reason people voted for gauss recoil was because PGI didn't think to put a "Leave cGauss alone" option.

i still don't get the gauss shake hate, until i saw this thread i didn't even know it was still in there. It really isn't noticeable at all

I don't see any issues with the shake, doesn't affect anything, just a visual.
unless you use some macro that allows chain firing a gauss, then I could see how it adds troubles

although, if someone is just shooting one gauss at a time, that could make aiming their second shot tough

okay, before I pressed 'post' I went into the testing grounds to just single fire, still the effect and affect was small

And now shoot them mid burn of some ER Larges and watch your beams take a roughly 30° deviation to a random direction,was like that in previous PTS(no idea if it was changed now,not bothering download pts again) and is as such on HGR

I am mostly a IS player but I have to agree, dont give us Gauss recoil for the normal ones. I play heavy G and that one is fine, but for a normal one? Please dont. Instead lets just focus on what Tarogato talks about having the same high damage but longer laser duration. https://youtu.be/u1OC0Vze0pc

Agreed as well. I've actually suggested something similar to this before and I will back this suggestion. Drop the charge up and the recoil and give Gauss Rifles VERY long reloads.
Something like this:
- Light Gauss: 7 second reload with 10 dmg per shot
- Gauss: 8 second reload
- C-Gauss: 9 second reload
- Heavy Gauss: 10 second reload

Another thing is people often say to close the gap between Clan and IS Gauss by nerfing C-Gauss, with things like less damage or recoil mechanics. I disagree with that. How about buffing IS Gauss instead? Make IS Gauss 14 tons instead of 15, with nothing else changed?
Turn-based and lore values are nice and all but lore and Turn-based values needs to take a back seat to making a good real-time FPS game.

Id be okay with removing chargeup and giving gauss a much longer cooldown.

Thats how other mechwarrior games balanced gauss.

I think even they realized the recoil wasn't changing much. Which is probably why they then decided to extend laser duration. To force people to wait even longer before firing.
They should just chip off 1 damage point and say good enough. ;o

-1 damage isnt enough to balance it weighing 3 tons less

itd have to be 12-13 damage probably

You misread my post.
I don't want C-Gauss to get nerfed by 1 damage.
I want IS Gauss to lose 1 ton instead.
