Why Is The Katana-Kat A Straight Nerf To The Pnt-9R?

Same hardpoints - PNT-9R arguably better location for peeking and armor saving
Less quirks - 9R gets -10% laser duration, -5% more energy cooldown, Armor is equal but distributed better for the 9R because of hardpoint location.
The rest are exactly the same - Armor quirks, agility, engine cap etc.
So why is the Hero getting less quirks? the only difference here is the KK having 2 hardpoints on each arm, with the left arm having slightly higher hardpoints (first one on the side, not the bottom of it's arm)
Any more ideas? I was thinking of getting it but it would feel a waste when I can get the better version for ~4.5M c-bills...
EDIT: Also KK is D7 while the 9R is D5?? Did they really saw fit to put them in different divisions instead of just balancing them out? Posted Image

well the Hero gets a credit income bonus, though why different divisions I have no idea.

As a general rule, heroes are either a radically different loadout mimicking that of another chassis, or strictly worse then their basic counterparts. There are however, a few exceptions *cough* Deathstrike *cough*

They don't have the same hard points locations. That to me makes the KK the best pnt and why I bought it. The KK also has a nice dragon camo and c-bill bonus. I have the 9R but haven't played it recently to give it any thing over the KK. If I had to chose one over the other I'd go KK just because of the separate arm mounts which gets rid of that gorilla arm and 90% of weapons lost problem when it gets shot off.

The missile ct really doesn't make for any good back up weapon once that gorilla arm is gone. I constantly switch between srm 6 and mrm 10 with it with a minimal one ton ammo. Mrm 10 just seems to spread so much you could do more damage just 'raming' the enemy. The only thing it seems to have over srm is the longer range.

One of the funnest things about the pnts is the 20-40% velocity quirk with 15% velocity from fire power. Mount and chain fire lppcs for max lol while standing next to your assault friend.

KK can have up to eight JJs. PNT-9R can only support four max. So there is a difference, albeit not too crucial.

While playing around in the mechlab I seem to find 4MPL + srm4 to be the only loadout that actually use that hardpoint.. other than that all the other builds revolve around the enery hardpoints and their quirks
