Yeah, I realize that about faction play, the maps are small and you can see the enemy drop point most of the time. This post was more geared towards everybody who plays with larger teams but I couldn't really find a good subforum for it. When target location is known, it's definitely better to set up off of experience. When I'm moving with my guys, it's generally pretty quick communication like. "Move to echo 5," Generally people assume a formation of some kind even if it's not specifically stated or regimented based on the situation. That kind of thing comes with experience working together which is much faster and better by far than harsh regimentation. That's why I generally don't call a specific formation even immediately after the first drop because my guys just end up getting in columns, diamonds, wedges, Ys, or whatever without intending to based entirely upon their intuition. This post was more of me looking at this fact and analyzing the "why" of why we do "what".
