So, Take it and ask around but there are some mechs you should never play due to PGI not Balancing them correctly. They will have less armor then others with less firepower/matched firepower. Example: a Sleipner whitch boost 4 LBX 10's withbeing a 90 tonner will out perform a nightstar 9P with the same build. Have a better Top speed and same armor. Until things like this are fixed i feel PGI should look into this Problem.

If you're a min-maxer I'm sure there are plenty of mechs that you'd stay away from because other mechs have certain advantages when playing certain meta builds, but I don't think there's a single mech in the game that can't be taken on the battlefield and perform well. More than half of this game is getting your mech in the right spot to do damage while preventing the enemy from being able to counter effectively with their damage.

My philosophy is to play the mechs I like and the loadouts I like and don't worry about min-maxing. For every player who thinks a mech is a 'never play' mech, there's another player who can take that same mech and be a terror on the battlefield.

Well, I like to try out Mechs to find what works for me. I do have a number that I bought that I never got to work for me, despite being superior Mechs.

I have an Arctic Cheetah and a Kit Fox. I consistently get much better results with the Kit Fox, despite the ACH being considered the more powerful Mech. /shrug

I think this is more of a topic for general discussion than new player help.
