I've been playing this morning, and had no problems getting in games for quick play all morning, all of the sudden my buddy joins me in a group and we waited 20 minutes and hadn't even been in a game....we tried matching up mech types in medium, assault and heavy and nothing worked....is there some special thing we're missing?

Yea, when you play by yourself you play in the Solo queue, which is where most people play. When you play with anyone else, you go to group queue, which has fewer players. It also relies on there being group combinations that add up to 12. So if there are 3 groups of 3 playing, and a couple of groups of 6 playing, you will never get a match, because no combinations exists where your group can combine with other groups to make 12. Group queue times are longer.

This is why you don’t advertise “a thinking mans shooter” as a team friendly game and punish those who play as a team with tactics for it.

Eventually they will leave. It’s not fun being punished for practice and socializing.
