People put giant metal dinosaurs/chickens/lumberjacks in their yard. A battlemech should be possible if you have kids you could try to pitch it as a "play structure " for the backyard.

I'd advise choosing a mech over a wife, in any century. At least with the mech, you don't stop playing with your mech.
