I have noticed that the defensive kill is not registering and i have been getting kills inside my base and also around it so am not sure what the problem is. anyone else having the same issue?

You have to wait till you hear that your base is being captured, then must do damage to the mech that was capping. When it is killed, you get the defensive kill. It cannot just be any mech that was running around by your base. It must have actively capped.

Just killed 4 on our base after the notification and nobody got a defensive kill.

When I got mine I never made the kill but was shooting at the mech on my base.

You can get defensive kills on the enemy base, not just yours. It makes things much easier.

Im not getting it either, own base or enemys. I killed several guys while capping their base and shot at one in our own which later got killed no defensive kill awarded at all it doesnt seem to work.

You read that wrong. You must have engaged the unit within the ten seconds before it is killed. And it is that way since like ever.

So I was in a match and only needed one more defensive kill. The other team offered up guys if we would do the same for them because no one could get any defensive kills and there is only a few hours left in the event. And it didn't work. None of us could get one. We tried letting them cap, killing them fast, killing them slow, no one got one. I got a defensive kill in my first match and have not got another 12 matches later. I've killed and assisted numerous times on both bases now, nothing awarded. Somethings not right. Although oddly enough, I was in Terra Therma and saw "defensive kill" awarded to me while I was fighting a mile from either base - and still did not get credit towards the event.
